Senate considers unanimous-consent on Obama Cabinet (!!!)
The Hill ^ | 1/19/2009 | J. Taylor Rushing

The Senate on Tuesday is expected to attempt unanimous-approval votes of President-elect Obama’s Cabinet nominees, but it is uncertain who will be cleared by the upper chamber on Inauguration Day.

Senate Democratic leaders have circulated a unanimous consent request for 15 nominations at various departments, from Secretary of State nominee Hillary Rodham Clinton to United Nations Ambassador nominee Susan Rice. A senior Democratic aide cautions that leaders are uncertain how many will actually win unanimous approval, and that any roll-call votes that are necessary would be held on Wednesday.

The 15 names also include Attorney General nominee Eric Holder, Agriculture Secretary nominee Tom Vilsack, Education Secretary nominee Arne Duncan, Homeland Security Secretary nominee Janet Napolitano, Interior Secretary nominee Ken Salazar, Labor Secretary nominee Hilda Solis, Energy Secretary nominee Steven Chu, Environmental Protection Agency Secretary nominee Lisa Jackson and Deputy Defense Secretary nominee William Lynn.

Bush’s Executive Order may still be in effect when that happens. Then all of the neophyte cronies will be subject to intense investigations for “fitness.”

The “leadership” of this nation is nothing but cowards and opportunists, and we the people have given them the power.

“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” — Thomas Jefferson

It is as true today as it was when written, the only question is how tyranical are we going to let our government become before the bloodshed begins? We’ve put a gypsy in the palace, the mess that is being created will not be undone in my lifetime, short of bloodshed, I fear.

Why don’t the republicans hold them up for 10 months like the rat’s did on Bush?

Because the Rats were willing to fight like rats.

We have elected a caucus of chipmunks.

Clinton faces road block

From FNC A spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says Hillary Rodham Clinton will not be confirmed as secretary of state Tuesday because of a single senator's objection.
Reid spokesman Jim Manley said Republican John Cornyn of Texas has indicated he will block a move to confirm Clinton by an unanimous floor vote later in the day.

The Presidential seat was purchased by other countries, for an illegal alien...and the Supreme Court looked the other way. What do you think?

There’s NO WAY IN HELL Zero has a 76% approval rating. Impossible. They’re lying through their teeth.

They’re treating this not as an inauguration, but as the coronation of an Emperor... or the Second Coming (in fact, I doubt Jesus Himself would get this kind of treatment).

No, He wouldn't. In fact, I suspect He would get treatment similar to what He got the last time He came for a visit.

America appears to be at that awkward stage. Claire Wolfe needs to call the office...

If the remaining Pubs in the Senate had any balls they would threaten a filibuster on every piece of legislation, block every vote and force those seeking to abuse their power to stand up and be seen in the light of day.

Pelosi and Reid are attempting a coup in the Congress of the United States and seeking to silence the minority party. Their tools are procedural rules that do not exist in the Constitution.

How many years would we have to practice that before we cleared the slate?

Six. 1/3 of the Senate every 2 and the full house every 4.

President Bush didn’t get his all of his nominees confirmed until just before the 2004 election.

“Of course, I’d hate to think even worse that a good chunk of the GOP was colluding all the time”

Why? The GOP has its share of socialists in public orifice. And many in this forum have previously defended voting for GOP socialists because “the Democrats are worse”. And they will do so again in the future. And those of us who point out that the game is rigged will continue to be referred as kooks and conspiracy theorists.

Oh well, unGodly pragmatism is a b*tch when it bites conservatives (or should I say, “conservatives”) in the butt, isn’t it?

Oh, you’re right, but what I meant was with respect to a Presidential election. Obviously, you’d actually expect they were running to win, but this was the first election in my lifetime that it appeared to be anything but.

It’s an old sticker, one put on to make the distinction between socialism NOW or socialism later when we might have a chance to defeat it...

and for that, I had to choose someone, either burn down my house overnight or take 30 days...

and I am deeply offended at myself for it. :)

“Obviously, you’d actually expect they were running to win”

I’m not sure what we were trying to win by voting for the McCain.
