Today is the last full day that George W Bush spent in the White House as President he telephoned current and former world leaders from Oval Office.
Also in his last full day as President he commuted the sentences of two former US border guards facing more than 10 years in prison for shooting a Mexican drug smuggler.
Secretary of Defense Roberts Gates will will sit out Barack Obama's inauguration at an undisclosed location as the "designated successor" in the event of a catastrophe, the White House announced Monday.
Pray for President Bush - Day 3050.
Enjoy Sanity Island on the President's last full day in office
I just hope I can SEE him in that large crowd much less
give him a hug!
But if I get the chance.......
LOL!
That is gorgeous!! Thank you so much for that,
and for ALL you do. I pray things improve
every day, with Dad at home.
My 91 yr. old Mom was hospitalized with
pneumonia 2 days ago, and released today.
She’s still very weak and congested, so
I’m praying hard for her.
I am sooooooooooo going to miss this great man
Thank Snugs for putting up this thread !
Thank you snugs, and all the others for bringing us the Bush Administration and a comfy place to gather for the past eight years. Thanks to rintense for getting this started and doing a yeoman’s job for many years.
I hope Day in the Life will remain available as an archive on FR for a very long time.
Even though President Bush and Laura will regain their prized private life tomorrow (sniff!), we will need, more than ever, a Sanity Island.
I’m sorry, jonnny .. your name belongs on post #291 ... ;)
God bless us all .. heal our hearts.
If Texas secedes from the Union, you just might be President again?

The Love Affair in the White House!
Goodbye, President Bush. Thank you for all you did for us. I will miss you.
I will miss America too.
First Lt. Lou Allens family attended a reception at the White House on Thursday, Jan. 15.
Allens widow, Barbara, attended with their four sons, Trevor, Colin, Sean, and Jeremy, who had their photo taken with President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, and Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice. Allens parents, Robert and Vivian, and his sister Laurene Sandstrom also attended.
President Bush gave them all gifts.
The boys were thrilled to meet him, Sandstrom said. He gave all of us a hug and kiss when we were introduced. We also got to bring our cameras to take pictures of everything but the President. Those photos were taken by a professional photographer.
Lou Allen died in Iraq in June 2005. He was a native of Chester and a science teacher in Tuxedo, N.Y.
~~~
God bless them all.
Thank you for this Beautiful Dose, Snugs. I just can’t Believe his Presidency is Coming to a Close. :( Words Fail. :( Bless President Bush Forever, Dear Lord.
I’m considering flying mine upside down, which I believe is considered a distress signal.
Enjoy your retirement Mr President - you deserve it! Thanks to all those stalwarts on the Daily Dose who have kept the faith - love you guys, you are the BEST!!
It’s been a trial.
That was my intension to do
Snugs, I cannot thank you enough for all your postings, today in particular. I’m cherishing all the photos and will visit this particular area often. What an extraordinary couple the Bushes are. May God Bless Them Always.
Thank you, snugs.
