CNN's Soledad O'Brien Suggests Obama's a Hero Like the Hudson River Pilot

CNN’s Saturday filled with following Barack Obama’s train trip to the Inauguration was also filled with Obama praise. At one juncture, CNN couldn’t help but metaphorically merge Barack Obama with the exhilarating news of the US Airways pilot who landed his plane in the Hudson River without losing a single passenger.

A few minutes after 2 pm Eastern time, anchorman Wolf Blitzer recalled "Soledad [O’Brien] and I were talking about this earlier and she was saying metaphorically in some ways, the pilot of that airplane is very much like Barack Obama -- that he got the plane down safely, but everybody else had to join together to get out of the plane and pull together to get through that adversity. I thought that was an interesting metaphor.

"His star will fall as soon as he attempts to. He’s so wishy-washy. Those around him will destroy him."

Intellectually, I know you're right. But, my "gut" tells me something different. Obama is unique in the fact that he's the first black President. What is equally unique is the frenzy of the MSM's ongoing love-fest. The Sunday morning news show today were sickening.

I just don't get the feeling that America's Journos are going to let him fail. His honeymoon will be longer than anyone else. And, his ability to deflect criticism will be unequaled. I believe that unless there is a catastrophic attack or some other completely unforeseen scandal, Obama's poll numbers (as reported) will stay in the mid 60's well into his second year, or longer.

I’m getting to the point where I just don’t want to turn on my TV anymore. The level of hero worship we are witnessing is beyond absurd and heading into uncharted territory.

Just wait until these mind-numbed robots find out that The One isn’t, in fact, Jesus Christ Son of God, but an ordinary mortal who can (and will) make mistakes. And when he does, they’re gonna be some doozies.

Dig in. Smile. Every hype line is a promise he will not fulfill. The media will turn on his sooner rather than later and the scandals are already oozing out.

Channel surfing yesterday looking for any interesting sports, passed through the cable channels, seeing the messiah’s train arrival (or whatever), sounded like an old Beatles concert with squealing fans. Programmed all the cable news channels out for at least a week. 0Bama couldn’t carry Sully’s flight case.

(it’s going to be a long four years.)

Long four years of nausea broken only by extended periods of ugliness.

These media peeps are indeed mentally unbalanced. Thank god they have none of their hands on the throttle.

Where are these people getting all the LSD? They are hallucinating higher than Timothy Leary. It makes me ill watching people who raised me showing brainwashed minds, it didn’t take on me. I see through the costume of BO and it is ugly. There are many scary puppeteers working the BO charade.

agreed. there is something very sick going on here and I also agree that it’s the flip side of the same type of sickness that caused Bush Derangement Syndrome.

People walking around with Obama T-Shirts? this has become very bad for the country. At this point, this guy could do anything.. ANYTHING.. He could ban all guns, he could begin calling for restitution, etc. All bets are off with this upcoming Prez.

This is worship, plain and simple. Worship of idols.

Since when do we put so much hope and love into the universe, for a friggin politician ? There was a time when that was reserved for God. But no more. Hopefully we don’t end up with a dictator.

I always liked Prez Bush. Heck I even loved the guy. But I never worshipped him.

Oh., please. So far 0 has done nothing but deny his white ancestory. Do they really want to make him a hero for that?

Same here. I would guess perhaps all of us here on FR voted both times for President Bush, but when we disagreed with him, we openly criticized those decisions with which we disagreed.

But, with Obama, even the comedians don't want to joke about him. That type of hero-worship for someone who will be President is very dangerous.

And, as someone pointed out on another thread, not only will they not let him look like a failure, but they'll blame every mistake he makes and every catastrophic event that happens during his administration on the previous one. The Bush-bashing will continue through the coming years.

Exactly.

The way people are behaving toward the Big Zero alarms me. He can do no wrong. He's an emperor. A demigod. How dare anyone criticize him?

I guess all of us dissenters need to be sent to reeducation camps. Maybe we need our own Gulag Archipelago.

This is really as bad as I’ve seen. I’ve determined to stay away from the trainwrecks on TV...but even skimming through and watching TV guide for a second to see what’s on, they’re doing a piece about presidents.

They have idiotic comments like “everyone loved Martin Sheen in West Wing”...then Harrison Ford on Air Force One they ruin when the guy ways “he’s no wimp dodging shoes...”

This idiot doesn’t understand the reason the shoe was thrown at W in the first place was because W DIDN’T wimp out like Bubba!

As if that’s not bad enough, I check my voice mail for work and I’ve been invited to a reception on Tuesday for refreshments to watch the Inauguration. Since it’s not mandatory, I’ll stay away and keep my job for now, however I’m tempted to go and ask for the punch/kool-aid...take a sip, put it down and exclaim, “nope...I’m still immune thank the good LORD...GOOD LUCK!!!!” and walk out.

The zerofraud and his jester-clown Biden have the audacity to hold something called “We are One” at the Lincoln Memorial today.

I plan to support the zero precisely how the left supported Bush. And this idea people supported him during 9-11 reminds me of Peter Jennings criticizing the man ON 9-11 with snide comments like “Well, he is the president and some react to crises better than others”...blah blah blah...

I for one plan to vocally criticize the zero at each and every chance, all the time, and particularly everytime he so much as sneezes.

But the fact is, it won’t come to that...his administration, despite all the drive-bys is literally inept, appointing the most unqualified of the unqualified, meeting with RINO’s and calling that reaching across the aisle...

he’s his own worst enemy and will destroy himself, as will the drive-bys, it’s just a matter of time.

It’s just a shame people will suffer, in some cases ultimately, before this is fully realized.

I have never, in the life of me, seen stuff like this happen

The German people did, roughly 75 years ago. We ignore the similarities at our peril.

I recall how the press went gaga over Jimmy Carter carrying his own suitcase out of Marine One helicopter. It was all for show and there wasn’t anything of substance in Carter. We have the same thing here.
