McCain Campaign Manager Blames Rush Limbaugh for McCain's Loss
Rush Limbaugh ^ | 2009-01-16

Posted on 01/17/2009 7:01:24 AM PST by rabscuttle385

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, have you thought back to the 2008 election? Have you asked yourself who was responsible for that loss? Have you asked yourself who really should shoulder the blame and the burden for the defeat of Senator McCain? A lot of people have been speculating this, a lot of postmortems on the election. Let's go to the BBC. BBC World Service, host Stephen Sackur spoke with former McCain campaign manager Rick Davis and asked Rick Davis on whose shoulders rests the burden of the McCain defeat.

DAVIS: We didn't successfully reach out to them. I mean, but you look at the leadership John McCain gave which is counter to the direction that the party was headed, when you have the Rush Limbaughs of the world who, you know, literally almost feed the nativist attitude toward immigration reform, what do you think the Hispanic voter, the Latino voter is gonna remember? They're gonna remember the attacks, not the efforts by people like John McCain to try and reform.

RUSH: So there you have it, Rick Davis, the campaign manager for McCain, has dumped on my shoulders the reason McCain lost and others like me alienated Hispanic voters. This is so wrong on so many levels, but it explains why this campaign was so inept. A brief time-out. Just wanted you to hear that so you could stew over it.

THATS ABUSRD!

The very first time I heard excitement from Rush, and other conservative pundits, from my fellow Freepers, from my conservative friends and family, was when McCain picked Sarah Palin. I think McCain was jealous that she was more popular than he was and just let the media get away with destroying her. Never did I see him come to her defense.

I remember those certain FReepers calling you troll and keepin’ a list and checkin’ it twice.

They were an embarrassment. Are they still posting here. I noticed THE LIST kept by a guy who started with “C” has disappeared.

Limbaugh didn’t depress turnout, McCain did. The flyboy part of him showed up during the debates with Romney; the hands-across-the-aisle pol part for those with Obama.

The thought of defending what McCain would’ve done if he were elected president doesn’t thrill me in the least...

My feelings too. I have Bush-fatigue from the last 8 years. The ONLY reason I had a yard sign and bumper stickers on our vehicles was because of Palin.

“I don’t understand why Arizonians keep voting this clown in as their representative each year. Get rid of this RHINO.”

Because the Dems recognize he's one of them and only run token opposition. Then McLame cleans up among the Dems, Indy's, and idiot Republicans.

I haven't voted for him since 1992.

Very interesting post...and I agree with you that there is a concerted effort from RINOs and within the GOP to help Obama and the Dems institute the Fairness Doctrine.

Yes, none of the Obama Invitees have a talk-radio show...and their “conservative” backgrounds are neither.

Remember, it was GOP Senators publicly calling for silencing talk radio after the Illegal Alien Amnesty bill failed...Senators like Trent Lott (now a former Senator).

No doubt that there will be GOP traitors assisting Dems in trying to shut down talk radio.

McCain was ahead on Sept 10.

He plummeted because he “quit” like Perot did.

Americans don't like flakiness.

The only reason McCain received as many votes as he did was because of Gov. Palin and Rush Limbaugh. They tried to drag him across the finish line.

Bingo !

mcjuan lost because he is a liberal as much as hussein... and the only reason he had a chance to win and did well in early polling was because he chose a real Conservative in Palin... he then blew it all when he acted like an idiotic socialist when the economy tanked. TRUTH!

You can always tell the truly assinine, silly, childish, imbecilic, frustrating, embarrassing, vomit-initiating, myocardial infarction inducing posts on Free Republic by the number of responses they generate. Rick Davis is nearly as big a horses ass as his former boss. And like all inveterate losers, someone else is ALWAYS to blame for your latest and greatest failure. Further comment would be a waste of time. We all know what the story is. We’ve repeated it often enough. And our RINO friends continue to ignore us.

feed the nativist attitude toward immigration reform

Nothing needs to be reformed, laws simply need to be enforced.

Legal immigration: YES

Illegal immigration: NO
