BEDFORD HEIGHTS, Ohio President-elect Barack Obama made a pitch for his massive economic stimulus plan at a Midwestern factory that makes wind turbine parts, saying Friday his plan would make smart investments in the country's future and create solid jobs in up-and-coming industries.
"Renewable energy isn't something pie in the sky. It's not part of a far-off future. It's happening all across America right now," Obama told workers at the Cardinal Fastener & Specialty Co. in this Cleveland suburb. "It can create millions of additional jobs and entire new industries if we act right now."
Just days before taking the oath of office as the 44th president, Obama used the factory as a backdrop as he sought to generate support from the public constituents of skeptical Republicans and Democrats in Congress for his pricey plan to pull the country out of recession.
Seeking to counter critics' claims of excessive spending and too few tax cuts, Obama cast the package as necessary to create long-lasting, well-paying jobs in industries such as alternative energy, and help hard-hit industrial states such as Ohio now and in the future.

Of course, this thinly-veiled attempt at grabbing more bail-out money for both quid pro quo to unions and other campaign and socialistic "causes" just gets worse. It really is pandering to the hand-wringing, believe-anything liberal voting base. I really think we have not seen anything yet, as to what this "mob" will come up with in the way of excuses to steal and print more money.
You can really tell just how EXCITED the GDP-building, tax-paying public is about this administration and what it has to say --- just look at the Dow Jones averages and bank behaviors ----
Why is he still campaigning ? Doesn’t he know anything because Obamouthisms ?
I have a feeling the economy is going to in tough times for a while. Now it’s up to the GOP to turn around and do something with it and offer real solutions, instead of just cowering.
Sorry, Bambi, I’ve got drama fatigue.
Their centrally planned government economy is gonna crash sooner than they think. They don’t have enough martyrs willing to sacrifice for their cause.
I certainly will not participate in the destruction of individual liberty and economic freedom.
Who among GOP leadership is challenging this pile of crap?
Saul Alinsky laid out how to get radical change, and the easiest way is to have your target audience ask for change.
We have now a barrage of media reports about how unbelievably bad things are, and guess what, here comes someone with a plan! A plan to save us all! Don't look to see what the plan actually is, it's change, and change will save us all!
The plan will, I suspect, involve more centralized government control over energy sources plus a hefty socialized “subsidy” to keep it all running. Oh, and sacrifice, for (most) all of us in the way of conservation, maybe even towns cutting stretlights off at night, higher electric rates, thermostat rules, and the like.
Go check out “Reveille for Radicals” and Rules for Radicals” from Alinsky, and some of the spin-off books.
Can't wait to hear from the LSM about what kinda briefs O wears and whether or not he had a good BM that morning and how well his lunch time B-ball game went.
Can the Prez be impeached for dog fighting?
So some Lefty community activist who never ran anything except his mouth assumes he is qualified to run all industries. God help us.
Not unless it’s a female president. Bwa ha ha ha... No phat chicks allowed. (just kidding ladies)
Barack Obama speeving the masses drunk on Oprah, American Idol, and jello shots
Fire congress, would be a good first step.
Now its up to the GOP to turn around and do something with it and offer real solutions, instead of just cowering.

True, but it is going to be hard to get them to break a decade-long HABIT.....
Businesses will soon realize that their chief competition will come from the government.
George Orwell (Eric Arthur Blair) was off only by 24 yrs.
