SWAT team searches gun-rights supporters

At the board meeting today, Orange County deputies searched gun-rights supporters, especially those wearing CCW buttons, according to those who attended the meeting.

Although Sheriff Sandra Hutchens said she would let the permits expire rather than revoke them, her real disdain for freedom is shown by the presence of the SWAT team and the heavyhanded searches of law-abiding residents who wanted to attend the board meeting. Did the sheriff really think that gun supporters are somehow dangerous. I’ve been to gun shows and gun events and have never felt safer.

Face it-public officials are universally hated today-and if not for weapons screening I bet a number would be knocked off.

I too wonder exactly what she feared? I think it’s the attitude of law enforcement that anyone but themselves are a threat, at all times, and should be treated accordingly. I also believe that if anyone treats law enforcement as a threat they are called “cop haters” and “gun nuts”

You might be able to add section 245 to that too:

Seriously, I don't think there will be many door-to-door sweeps. After the first one, word will travel so fast throughout the land that the JBT will be in hiding.

I would expect something more sophisticated and long-term. Something more tolerable and low-key.

After all, the objective is to collect the guns and kill the resistors. That's going to take some skillful planning.

I suppose there will be plenty of 'Hessians' anxious and waiting to sign up. I would imagine the extra bonus of allowing the 'security force' to carry scimitars would be a plus, as they would say in the job market.

If we think police and military units will NOT carry out the order to search and confiscate without probable cause we are seriously deluded. Individuals might not follow those orders, but, by and large the rank and file will....WACO is my example.

No they won't. The majority WILL not. They will hide them. What can they do? Arrest half of the US citizens? You think those militia groups are giving up their weapons? Dream on. They are rabid 2nd amendment fighters.

I honestly believe right now we are at war here at home but instead of north and south it is right v left and at the moment the left I feel is winning.

Some individual LEOs or military, who have a passion for firearms and freedom, will not search and confiscate without probable cause. But for many/most of those guys, it is simply a job and they will do what they are told.

........some who claim to be LEOs(supposedly Conservative FReepers) post some pretty outrageous replies in defense of some of the worst cases. It generally deteriorates into the dreaded "us vs. them" argument in which the LEOs (or those who claim to be) end up bragging about their abuse of people. Just this week, one of the usual suspects bragged about how much he enjoyed confiscating people's personal property over traffic (equipment) violations. Not that he did it because it was his job... not because it made the community safer...but because he got off on it.

Just wait until you encounter one of these creatures in person....and you will.
