Re: eagles' wings...
It gets better. Note the date.
Numbers 33:3 And they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the morrow after the passover the children of Israel went out with an high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians.
From post 191:
"There was a report on MSNBC that the pilot threaded the needle with the GW Bridge on his descent."

"

At least something good happened on MLK's birthday for a change ;o)

Americans are at their best during bad times. Maybe there is still hope for us yet.

Some guy they interviewed said that the men on the plane made sure the women and children got off first. Chivalry is not dead. Its great to hear that there are real men out there. Way to go guys.
Yeah, I'm not so sure about that. If sorting through the passengers actually delayed the evacuation, it's a rather stupid thing to do. Ideally you evacuate by proximity to the next emergency exit.
Example: Airbus A380 evacuation test:
873 people in just over a minute:

We used screens over the intakes on test cell runs on the fighter engines I used to work on. But screens in flight are not a good idea. If you hit something at speed, it’s going through the screen. Screens would just be something more to ice up, cause more drag, etc. Easier to design the engine to deal with birdstrikes than to engineer something that would prevent them.

Pilot joke: "What do you think was the last thing to go through that bird's mind?"
"His a$$."

The "first month" is Nisan, which bounces around between March and April. You're sharp. Well alrighty then, nothing for you to see here, just move along.
Meanwhile, on the fifteenth day of the first month, the pilot of a really big bird "threaded the needle" with outstretched wings, wings that literally carried his passengers to safety.
Did you notice that the Statue of Liberty waved a red flag three weeks before 911? Probably not, as it was "just" some idiot paraglider who got himself snagged up on the torch.
A Freeper took note and published the warning on that day.

The Bible does not use the Gregorian calendar. The fifteenth day of the first month is Aviv (or Nisan) 15. It comes in March or April on the Gregorian calendar.

It has nothing to do with woman hating gene.
A disaster happened, and it brought out the best in people. Especially the men involved.
You were the one who has to come along and get all snipey and snarky and catty about it.

Many airports, JFK included, do have anti-bird devices. These mainly consist of air cannons to scare them off but some use other methods as well. I can’t imagine the stinky hippies allowing bird shootdowns though. Especially around NYC. I like the idea personally. Good target practice.

Apparently my why dont they have a screen over the intake post should have had a smiley. Sorry about that. I think they should paint a scarecrow on the nose of every aircraft. That should do the trick!;)

After all the searching, found it.
Thanks for posting the pilot's creds, Ernest.
I'll fly with him anyday.

American men are, by and large, the most considerate, loyal, and fearless on the planet. We are blessed to have an abundance of Alpha males.
You know who makes fun of them? Beta males and females uncomfortable with themselves.
Ignore them.

Seems this pilot was a former F-4 pilot. You can always tell a former military pilot when you board a plane just by his bearing. I always feel so much better as a passenger!

Absolutely incredible that the heroic pilot managed to ditch the plane without quacking it up!

Well I think all we can know is that God saved these people today for a reason and that those pictures really touch most of us.
Sorry, but literature was my favorite topic in college English and another metaphor could be GB as the plane, protecting Americans by Gods Grace and the empty plane is him... tired, whipped and done with his job.

I was remarking to my husband that he is only 57 but looks about 80. He said....well he probably looks like a 100 tonight then :’)
