Breaking now of Fox News.
Multiple reports that everyone got off the plane.
The pilot is absolutely amazing.
Yep. Could have hit downtown NYC or the GW Bridge.
LaGuardia is east of Manhattan and the Hudson River is west of Manhattan
Extraordinary work by the pilot .. not to mention NYPD/FDNY/Circle Lines/ferries, USCG, etc. Well done!
Their personal electronics may be dead, but multiple sources are reporting that everyone got out.
Shep is an idiot, but I won’t watch msnbc or cnn. I had switched over to FOX because the Holder hearings on CSPAN were on a break.
It appears citizens are the first responders again!!
That was a day or two before he was weepily reporting that babies were being raped and eaten in the Superdome.
Good thing for global warming - if that river had been frozen, it wouldn’t be as happy of an ending.
There was a report on MSNBC that the pilot “threaded the needle” with the GW Bridge on his descent.
Assuming that they got everyone off, they should let it sink.
Make one heck of a crab pot, eh?
I am glad everyone got out. There are numerous miracles in these people surviving this.
Winds were 340 at 15 gusting higher. Probably took off on 31.
Take you our over the western end of Long Island Sound/ East River.
Since they made it as far as they did, they obviously didn’t take the bird strike and suffer a total loss of power right away, cuz they made it to the Hudson River. (west side of Manhattan). A 320s don’t glide (well) when they are slow and heavy. Shoot, our Tri-Pacer didn’t glide well when it was slow and heavy.
No matter what the circumstances, kudos to the PIC (pilot in charge) and his/her crew.
Somebody on airliners.net pulled this data off flightaware.com (I don’t know how to do it myself):
Time Lat Long kts Alt
03:26PM 40.80 -73.87 151 1800 level New York TRACON
03:27PM 40.83 -73.87 174 2800 climbing New York TRACON
03:27PM 40.86 -73.88 194 3200 climbing New York Center
03:28PM 40.88 -73.90 202 2000 descending New York TRACON
03:28PM 40.86 -73.93 215 1600 descending New York Center
03:29PM 40.83 -73.95 194 1200 descending New York TRACON
03:29PM 40.82 -73.97 191 1300 climbing New York Center
03:30PM 40.78 -74.00 189 400 descending New York TRACON
03:31PM 40.75 -74.02 153 300 descending New York TRACON
If that’s the case, the pilots got that A320 down from 3200 feet at least and guided it to a successful ditching just off Manhattan. That is amazing.

It appears they will have some amazing stories to tell their grandchildren and co-workers.
Can you take a train?
Be safe, anyway.
Total chills. That pilot is amazing!
“Make one heck of a crab pot, eh?”
That would be a very expensive crabpot.
Was flying backseat in an F-4 doing a low level tactical mission from Moody AFB in Ga, looked right and saw a damn turkey buzzard whiz by not 2 feet from the canopy. If we had taken that thing in the face the pilot would have been FUBAR.
Bird strikes are no laughing matter.
By the way the pilot of this flight is a Hero.
