The Elephant in the Room: McCain may be Obama's secret weapon
The Philadelphia Inquirer ^ | 2009-01-15

A desire by both men to secure their places in history might forge an unlikely pairing.

BY RICK SANTORUM

Obama also faces the reality of needing at least one Republican senator to join him to break filibusters. Many speculate that three moderate Republicans will provide the necessary Senate votes and the imprimatur of bipartisanship.

. . . . .

But I believe Obama has an ace in the hole among Senate Republicans. This unlikely ace can deliver not only the GOP moderates needed to break a filibuster, but also the stamp of bipartisanship: the 2008 GOP standard bearer, John McCain.

. . . . .

In McCain's mind, however, losing the presidency will not be the final chapter of his life story. He knows the path to "Big Media" redemption. Working with the man who vanquished him in November will show them all the real McCain again.

It’s time for a third party, a radical reform party. The GOP is useless. We can blame McCain all we want, but he is a symptom of a larger disease. The entire command structure of the GOP has become a shill for the democrats intent on dumping and thwarting conservatives at every turn. It’s time for a genuine conservative party that refuses to admit “moderates” to it’s ranks.

That’s usually the idea.

But apparently politicians in this country don’t even have to pull the wool over the voters’ eyes any more. Clear plastic is enough to fool us, these days.

I like DeMint of SC and Inhofe of Oklahoma, to name two. From what I know of them.

As far as Democrats? No, not a one. If they vote for Pelosi or Reid as leaders - probably the most important vote they cast - then they are NOT conservatives.

Amen to that! Can someone please list a few true conservatives that still believe in small gov’t, low taxes, strong military, and freedom for the individual. Palin, Jindal, Hunter . . .

LOL!
McCain is a politician whose future lies behind him.

But no doubt the media will return to stroking his ego to make him a useful tool for the Bamster

I seem to remember that years ago there was a McCain recall petition in Arizona spark-plugged by a Freeper(s). My memory is fuzzy.....I think it might have been aborted because of 9/11 happening so suddenly.

Maybe someone can refresh our memories of this laudable effort.

At any rate, it may be time for another such effort after McCain commits his first obominable act in the new Session.

ONLY if rank and file Republicans allow this political freak (McCain) to flimflam them.

As I made contributions to his Presidential Campaing, he tried to hit me up with a request for contributions to his damn PAC.

I threw his letter in the garbage where it belongs.

RINOS are more dangerous than Liberals.

Qustion: How can soldiers squander in Congress all the moral and political capital they gain on the battlefield?

Answer: Because that’s the only way they can appropriate it for themselves.
(Despite Rush’s claim that the MSM doesn’t count anymore, they still determine in the minds of many what is praiseworthy)

As events are bearing out, we see that McCain had no intention of fighting Obama or winning the Presidential election.

Everything McCain did was for the purpose of throwing the race, including the bailout stunt.

I’ll go so far to say that even his selection of Palin was meant to teach conservatives a lesson, and to destroy conservative power within the GOP. I say this because his lack of speaking up for her and for the truth in the immediate post election weeks when she was being savaged showed me the that the true McCain was even less honorable than even I thought. Knowing he was throwing the election meabnt that Palin would go down in flames, hoping to take out a bright light for the GOP in the process.

McCain could not have known how Palin would resonate within the GOP—he felt he was probably just giving a sop to the conservatives to keep us on board.

And now, as you can watch the Holder nomination hearing, where ex GOP Senator John “I should be in a home” Warner just testified FOR Holder, and undercut his old buddy arlen Spector but good, it has become plain that the GOP is goign to be steamrollered.

Well, maybe not, because if you lay down prostrate without even being asked, that is not being steamrolled.

That McCain would even participate in helping the most unaccomplished, anti-American, Marxist person to ascend to the Presidency tells us where his heart truly is.

Mr. Soros: “Mission Accomplished!”
