[snip]According to Paglia, "There's many a moose in Alaska with greater charm and pizazz" than that possessed by Couric.
So wrote the outspoken columnist Wednesday in response to a reader's question about the media's treatment of Gov. Sarah Palin. In her most recent offering, Paglia answered queries on subjects ranging from religion, music, sexuality, freedom of speech, and, of course, politics. [snip]
"If there's anything that demonstrates the straying of the Democratic Party leadership from basic liberal principles, it's this blasted Fairness Doctrine -- which should be fiercely opposed by all defenders of free speech. Except when national security is at risk, government should never be involved in the surveillance of speech or in measuring the ideological content of books, movies or radio and TV programs.
Broadcasters must adhere to reasonable FCC regulations restricting obscenity, but despite the outlandish claims of Democrats like Sen. Charles Schumer, there is no analogy whatever between pornography and political opinion. Nor do privately owned radio stations have any obligation to be politically "balanced." They are commercial enterprises that follow the market and directly respond to audience demand. The Fairness Doctrine is bullying Big Brother tyranny, full of contempt for the very public it pretends to protect."
Of particular note, Paglia once again went after the liberal elite view that Palin is a bumbling fool unqualified for high office (h/t HillbillyKing):

I idon’t agree with Paglia on any political topic I can think of excluding the ridiculous ‘fairness doctrine’.
That said, I RESPECT her. Great example of how debates about politics should be done.
Vince Lombardi would pay for a hole like that one...
Camille Paglia is a very good judge of character.
You gotta love Camille for telling it like it is.
On certain issues, granted not many from a conservative point of view, Paglia nails it. On the subject of Hillary, Paglia is a pitbull and I love that about her.
“Paglia once again went after the liberal elite view that Palin is a bumbling fool unqualified for high office (h/t HillbillyKing):”....
The left is very afraid of Palin. They say the strong support she had from voters at her campaign speeches. Palin represents the people the left hate so much!
I’m impressed. I often do not care for Paglia, but sometimes she gets it so right.
koourik may be a waste of good air, a less than professional talking head, a sycophant, a non-thinking liberal....
But a journalist??? Not in a million years.
She is a liberal, for certain. However, she places a higher priority on the truth than her liberal dogma. Rare breed.
Paglia is one of the very few liberals who actually has some objective and analytical brain cells.
I would enjoy a dinner conversation with her. I can’t say that about any other liberal, with the exception of Kirsten Powers on Fox.
I was going to say that but nobody has come to interview me. :-)
Camile Paglia is one of but a few liberals who makes a honest effort to defend her thoughts!
“And of course I would never spoil my dinner by tuning into Couric’s TV evening news show. That sallow, wizened, drum-tight, cosmetic mummification look is not an appetite enhancer outside of Manhattan or L.A. There’s many a moose in Alaska with greater charm and pizazz.”
That’s Great.
My favorite liberal homo
Even when Paglia is wrong, she gives a good defense of her position. She NEVER goes to ad hominem attacks. So even when I disagree with her, which is often, I come away having learned something worth learning.
