BANGKOK, Thailand – It seemed like a good idea at the time: Remove all the feral cats from a famous Australian island to save the native seabirds.

But the decision to eradicate the felines from Macquarie island allowed the rabbit population to explode and, in turn, destroy much of its fragile vegetation that birds depend on for cover, researchers said Tuesday.

Removing the cats from Macquarie "caused environmental devastation" that will cost authorities 24 million Australian dollars ($16.2 million) to remedy,

What is it with the Australians and this kind of stuff?

Sure seems they have a pretty lousy track record at it...

Hire the Israelis to come kill the rabbits. They reportedly killed the Hamas terror bunny last week so I imagine these little twerps would be easy.

Don’t we all know that cats will one day rule the earth and the retribution for their removal from this island will be fierce? I don’t know if the do-gooders realize just exactly who they have pissed off.

I once said to a visiting niece as I turned out the light, “sleep tight... dont’ let the bed-bugs bite.” She expressed concerned that there were bed-bugs in the house. I said “no, they’re all gone... The lizards ate them!” Which elicited more concern. But not to worry, the rats ate all the lizards. Which elicited more concern. But not to worry, the snakes all the rats. And the wolves ate all the snakes, and the strange men in the closet shot the wolves.

Environmentalists... is there nothing they can’t screw up?

And we are supposed to take, on faith alone, the pronouncements of the enviromental wacko’s, with a track record over the past five decades that features NOT ONE accurate prediction?

Sheesh.

Note to dogooders: rabbits can't fly,and will be easier for cats to catch.

Or maybe the Aussies could loose some dingos on the island to eat the rabbits.(I don't think dingos climb trees.)

Of course once the dingos eat all the rabbits....

When has something like this NOT happened when the enviro whackos think they know the “perfect balance” of nature? I swear they have got to be the most conceited people alive.

In a similar vein, how about a spotted owl update? Remember how we banned logging on some of the most productive federal lands in to protect these precious creatures? Looks like it worked...for a while. Here’s a recent article from Smithsonian magazine.

http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/The-Spotted-Owls-New-Nemesis.html

Now the owl kissers have their panties in a wad because the spotted owls face a new threat; bigger, more aggressive barred owls that are killing or driving off the spotted owls! The owl kissers have no idea what to do about it, but it seems they’ve found who to blame!

Yep! It’s US. They attributed the migration of the barred owls to...you got it...CLIMATE CHANGE! (The article even labeled it “climate chaos.”) But wait, it gets better. See, if you read carefully between the lines in the article, you see the real reason that the barred owls are migrating is BECAUSE THEY CAN. The barred owl’s original range was in the eastern US. Refuting their own climate chaos argument, the chart attached to the article shows that the barred owls are not moving away from their original range, it’s just expanding. The real reason for that is with all the tree-hugger tree-planting initiatives, there now exist enough trees in places in the High Plains to permit the barred owls to nest all the way across to the Pacific Northwest, where they are doing naturally what God intended. The spotted owl’s day may be done, as with all living things.

The spotted owl’s extinction was temporarily prevented by tree-huggers, who it turns out might make them extinct as an unintended by-product of other meddling they’ve been up to. Don’t you just love irony?

These environmentalists are so freakin stupid. It takes nature eons to establish and maintain a balance in an ecosystem and these morons think they can change it in a few weeks to suit themselves.

The Australians used a rather nasty South American rabit pox virus to control their rabbit problem.
