Knoxville Recall Amendment had the presumption and the color of constitutionality ...
The new House Speaker helped Democrats re-elect Memphis Democrat Lois DeBerry as Speaker Pro Tem, the number two position in the chamber by a 50-49 vote.

When state Rep. Gerald McCormick, R-Chattanooga, approached the new Speaker, Rep. Williams warned him that if he used the f-word, he would be thrown out.

I know Gerald McCormick...
Hes a good Christian man...
I doubt if he would ever use such language...
Remember in 2004, we won the Senate here with a narrow majority for the first time since the 1860s (although we had two party switches in ‘95 after the organizational session, which technically meant we were the majority, but we didn’t hold it in ‘96). Two Rs voted for the then-DINO 32-year Speaker/Lt Governor. But it wasn’t a surprise, since they made their intentions known. Spkr. John Wilder had, up until that point, operated in a bipartisan manner (in fact, probably only the legitimately non-partisan legislative leader in the country, he would campaign for any incumbent Senator that asked, regardless of party). I had a lot of respect for Wilder and his playing fair with us even when it could cost him and the Dems wanted to depose him.
Problem was with his election to an unprecedented 17th term as Speaker (the longest serving Speaker of any body of any state in the history of the country) was that Wilder was clearly becoming feeble and well past senile. He immediately rewarded the Democrats and the 2 Rs and punished the Republicans and gave them practically nothing in the way of Chairmanships. He had gone from non-partisan to hyper-partisan. At the time of his reelection and over the coming 2 years, a large chunk of Democrat Senators came under indictment, put on trial, or ended up in prison. One Democrat was so disgusted because of the mismanagement and arrogance that he switched parties. Unfortunately, he lost narrowly for reelection in ‘06.
When the organizational session occurred 2 years ago, only one of the 2 remaining R’s, who ALSO was named Williams (Mike Williams, a major league asshole), remained in the body. He was the Speaker Pro Tempore (his reward by Wilder) and was prepared to vote for Wilder again with our 1 seat majority in the balance, despite Wilder, at 86, being completely incompetent. As the roll call went down, a Clarksville Democrat lady named Rosalind Kurita had enough of this farce and voted for Republican Ron Ramsey, and Williams was left to gnash his teeth, since his vote no longer mattered (and he tersely voted for Ramsey). Kurita was vilified beyond belief during the session, nevermind she voted to uphold the legitimate GOP majority in the body (for which Ramsey rewarded her courage with Williams’s Speaker Pro Tempore post).
This past year, Kurita won renomination narrowly in the Dem primary. The state Dems stripped her of the renomination and installed the loser for the general election, forcing her to run a write-in candidacy (which is almost impossible to win), for which she didn’t prevail. Williams himself switched to “Independent” but of the Judas Jeffords vintage. That traitor was dumped in the general election by a Republican, and we now have a 19-14 majority in the body, wide enough to prevent any chicanery and the GOP side is 100% unified in that body. I had hoped to see the GOP refuse to seat the Democrat occupying Kurita’s seat, but have no idea the status of that. They organized the body this morning without event. Ramsey had 2 Democrats in chairmanships in the last session. One of them retired, and the other is my buffoonish urban Black lady rodent Senator. He promptly removed her from her posting, and now the GOP chairs all committees.
Yup, I was following that. Decker was disgusting vermin. It’s amazing this is the second traitor named Williams in our state to tip the balance of power. We ran out the other Williams (Mike) in November. This other little puppet scumbag is only in his 2nd 2-year term. He is from very close to the NC border in Carter County.
DeBerry has been in that office since I was in grade school. A 1970s relic. Shameful. The little weasel vermin Judas traitor had the nerve to say he’d operate in a bipartisan way (ironically, he considered himself the only “bipartisan”). His ass is going to be thrown out of the caucus as fast as possible. I hope his constituents know exactly what kind of a liar and con-artist he is, and that his words and pledges are worthless.
Given today, usage of said language would be well in order.
Agreed!
I want all of you RINO lovers to commit hara-kiri.
I think I’ve got an old friend caught up in this situation.
Starting with all of the Slick Willardbots on this website.

As far as being stuck with gerrymandered RAT legislators from Chicago I got a pretty good deal. Both of them are Irish Catholic, socially conservative, law-and-order, Lipinski style “centrist” Dems, which gives an idea of the politician leanings of the region I'm in. Also more proof that given ideology of the the region, I SHOULD be in Lipinski’s Congressional district, but sadly I'm stuck in Black Panther Bobby's (all the nearby towns are in Lipinski’s)
My state rep:

My state senator:

At least my RAT state rep. actually LIVES in the suburbs and legislimately won election to his district in 1996, when he got an upset win against my old Republican state rep. thanks to Madigan getting so many Crook County voters to punch one hole for a straight-ticket Dem vote (that system has since been abolished). My State Senator is a Chicagoan who NEVER won a legitimate, contested “election”, he's faced only token “opposition” on paper, and everytime a viable Republican attempts to run, the RAT machine makes sure to throw them off the ballot. I had to cast a write-in vote just to support his Republican opponent in 2008. He was basically appointed my Senator for life in 2002. The guy votes very conservative on abortion, gays, immigration, taxes, etc., because he represents a constituency that formerly elected conservative firebrand Pat O’Malley (R-Palos Park) from 1992-2002, best known as being the only Republican willing to challenge George Ryan for Governor before the later retired. I finally meet Maloney face to face last October and he said he was embarrassed by his party's shenanigands. Of course he'll lay low and won't do anything about it, since he owes his seat to them. I found his execuse about not supporting recall and a Constitution Convention because "if voters don't their legislators, they can vote them out of office" to be ridiculous, and pointed out that we can't actually do this in most RAT districts including his own. He didn't have much of an answer to that.
The problem is not these individual RATs but the system that allows the RAT leadership to blatantly steal elections and let a small faction run the entire government.
And 1994 was pretty much a one-time fluke, as most states that suddenly found themselves with a GOP house saw it revert back to RAT in 1996. My state was no exception — Lee Daniel's becoming speaker on the national party's coattails was a short lived event and Mike Madigan never really lost power even during his two year stint as “minority leader”
It looks like the same thing is happening in Texas.
It sounds to me like Kent Williams is controlled by the Democrats and is therefore, in reality, a Democrat. That being the case, the rats actually control the House and could have, with Williams’ vote, elected any rat they wanted.
However....
Apparently, Williams told the rats that he would remain their bitch only as long as he could be Speaker. So he not only screwed his former party (the Republicans) by prostituting himself to the opposing party, he also spit in the faces of his new “friends” as well by handcuffing them to the bed and forcing himself on them.
Wow.
This all translates to a man who is about as sleazy as a human being can get. A real scumbag.
The rats can have him. Williams and the rats deserve each other.
Meanwhile, the Republicans need to play some smashmouth politics and either turn a rat or defeat a few more in the next election.
The rats won this one and there’s nothing you can do about it.
If this happens, than Williams needs to be primaried.
Right back at ya from your Texas pals.
This scumbag was only just reelected to a second term in a very heavily GOP East TN district (he beat his Conservative GOP predecessor, Jerome Cochran, who despite the name, was actually a native of Vietnam in both the ‘06 and ‘08 primaries).
He will be booted from the caucus, so he can call himself whatever party he likes, but he is not a Republican. We still have to watch tomorrow for the joint session on the election of the statewide officeholders. Although we still have an overall 68-64 majority (69-63 if Traitor Williams were a voting Republican) counting both bodies, the Naifeh crew (and make no mistake, Naifeh is still in charge) need persuade only 3 more weak-willed R’s to vote for the Democrats and we gain zilch.
50-49, I plum forgot they were of course gonna pull something. Too good to be true.
No ****.
How does this piece of garbage justify this?
“He predicted that history will show that this will be a great thing for the state.”
No seriously Williams. Now is not a naked personal power grab?
Hopefully history will show 5 or 6 more Republicans elected to the house in 2010 and you defeated in the primary and then the general when you switch to “independent”. Or hopefully history will show that....no the rules of FR and human decency say I can’t post that but it’s how I think coup attempts should be handled.
I was breaking this story on FR and was commenting as it went along. I told State Rep. Stacey Campfield this just a few minutes ago...
“Stacey, I hate to rub salt in the wound myself (and it’s a damn good thing I wasn’t in the gallery, because they would’ve carted me off as soon as I unloaded on certain individuals for their treachery), but why on Earth didn’t Leader Mumpower get some non-moonbat Democrats as a cushion for support (even if it meant giving some of them a Chairmanship or two) ? He had to have known, and I warned it myself, that Naifeh wasn’t going to just give up without pulling off a stunt like we witnessed today. Williams isn’t the real Speaker, he’s just a puppet for Naifeh (and we saw again, his support for DeBerry, proving he was completely in the pocket of Naifeh). We couldn’t rely on a one-seat cushion that one weak-willed traitor would sell out for his pieces of silver.
The Democrat party is absolutely the most immoral and corrupt political band of thugs in the U.S. Naifeh and his minions have been playing the game for decades and we play it like it’s Marquis of Queensberry while they just get out a baseball bat and hit us in the knees. They don’t play by the rules, they make up the rules as they go along. Rule #1, the Democrats are always in charge. Rule #2, if the Democrats are voted out, see rule #1.
No honor, no decency, no sense of right or wrong, just a raw grab for power to which the people of Tennessee did NOT elect them to, nor have in 16 years, for which time since ‘94 onwards the GOP has received more votes for legislative candidates than the Democrat party. This is “minority rules” by a thugocracy. It’s disgusting.”
Sickening
Ambition drove many men to become false; to have one thought locked in the breast, another ready on the tongue. Sallust (86 BC - 34 BC)
How do you describe what happened today? How can you? We all had great hopes for Tennessee. For helping education, the second amendment, life, a whole host of ideas. We all now realize those hope are more or less gone now at least for all intense and purposes.
What can you say about Kent? He swore an oath. He broke it. He signed pledges, he broke them. He lied. He lied to all of us. He lied to our faces over and over. He lied to my face. He even lied to us today right before the vote. I could have handled it better had he been straight up with us all along. But he wasn't. Many people worked incredibly hard. For the last few weeks people were putting in 70+ hour weeks getting ready for the change. Wasted time. I know some people who quit jobs and moved to Nashville just to be a part of the new administration. They are screwed.
Dems are all giddy and trying every way they can to rub salt in. We are all incredibly let down. We know the capitol will stay more or less the same whore house with just a different piano player. He will be a puppet for Naifeh and the Dems. He will offer some small meaningless scraps to give people the false impression he is being bipartisan but we all know the truth.
I have always been warned "Watch out for people who's ambition exceeds their conviction. They will run you over in a second" We just got hit.
