Obama Chooses Gay Bishop for Big Inaugural Event
And now the latest installment in As Obamas Faith World Turns
President-Elect Barack Obama has chosen a controversial gay bishop to give the invocation this Sunday at the big inaugural event at the Lincoln Memorial. Obama will be in attendance.
More from the Politico below and then get my analysis.
The Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson of New Hampshire, who became the Episcopal Church's first openly gay bishop in 2003 and last year entered into a civil union with his gay partner, will deliver the invocation for Sunday's kickoff inaugural event on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, with President-elect Obama in attendance. The event is free and open to the public. An Obama source: 'Robinson was in the plans before the complaints about Rick Warren. Many skeptics will read this as a direct reaction to the Warren criticism but it's just not so.' Robinson has been referred to as 'the most controversial Christian in the world.' A Sewanee graduate!

An episcopalian, I would have even preferred the Rev. Wright over Vickie Gene

Hope Vickie Gene does not blow this opportunity.

I told you all that this new crowd of idiots are easily manipulated. We’ll get in way more of our ideals in terms of policy than we originally thought if we formulate the proper opposition to the almighty Eclair and his grand plans!

Isn’t “blow” the definition of opportunity for Vickie Gene?

Hasn't half the church left due to this one man being put into this position?

Here we go....
Honestly, I'm glad Obama picked Robinson. Just more affirmation of the satanic inspiration of both men.

Gee, I wonder how the Episcopalian church membership has been doing as of late?
Total membership of active baptized members in 2007 within the United States is 2,154,572, according to the 2008 National Council of Churches Report, which represents a 4.15% decline from the NCC's figure for 2006. The statistics for the most recent year available from the Episcopal Church itself, 2005, are 2,205,376 in the United States and 2,369,477 worldwide, which are calculated from all submitted parochial reports for 2005 the latest year available[update].[54]
Taken from Wikipedia.
Now, I believe that homosexuality is a sin like any other. I have had addictions, and have sinned in the past. I would welcome a homosexual to church with open arms just as I would welcome a thief to church, or a drug addict, an adulterer etc... in the hopes that they will break the cycle of their addiction.
But, it's one thing to welcome a sinner to church in the hopes that they will find the power in God to stop sinning, and it's another to have a sinner who sins in his relationship with another man to lead a congregation!
I would not have the thief or the drug addict or the adulterer who does not try to abstain from his addiction preaching the Word of God either. It's madness!
Note: This applies to those who believe in Christianity obviously. If this were a secular speaker, I couldn't care less what sexual orientation the person was, but would judge the message.
Stuff like this nonsense makes me glad that we don't have a "Church of America" (which I guess since the Episcopalians were an offshoot of the Church of England -- could very well have been the Church of America)!

Perhaps I am supposed to be surprised, but Im not.Or perhaps we are supposed to be outraged. A terrorist-friendly socialist has a pervert performing a religious service at the inaugural.
To: meandog
God put on this Earth to rise above sexuality, not to glorify or promote it. Organized religion in general leaves me cold.. I have no use for it's hypocrisies or rituals. The Church is a Cult.. They don't want you to get better.. They want you to belong to Them.

ROLFLMBO!!!!
I don’t know whether to laugh or shake my head and wonder how many Americans will believe that comment.

From appearances, I would think Obama is gay and Michelle is a lesbian. An arrange marriage (for appearances only) would be the perfect front those two to reach their dreams.

Going to split the Episcopal Church even deeper.

Organized religion indeed should leave all of us cold! Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship with the One who gave His life and rose from the dead for each one of us.

Anyone with common sense who has heard Vicki “Gay Gene” Robinson speak knows that he is a narcissistic heretic and Sodomite. And an ignorant, arrogant fool to boot. When confirmed as Episcopal Bishop of New Hampshire in 2003, he sacrilegiously compared himself to the resurrected Jesus, declaring that “God had done a new thing” and that “Out of a Good Friday has come a new Easter.” As for his prayer this Sunday, the knothead says he will not use the Bible and his prayer will not be “explicitly Christian.” Hmm...same at TEC!
To: meandog
“Gay bishop” just sounds like an oxymoron.
