What are these? A THREE-legged stool and a traditional Luo oxtail fly whisk are some of the household items that could bring a new feel to the Oval Office, courtesy of Barack Obama's Kenyan grandmother. Sarah Obama, who at 86 still lives in a modest house in the family's ancestral village of Kogelo, has been packing presents ahead of her grandson's January 20 inauguration as the 44th president of the United States.
Quoted in the Standard newspaper, she said she had hoped to bring him a traditional spear and shield from her Luo tribe when she flies to Washington on Friday with some other family members.
"But I have been told that due to security reasons I will not be allowed to board a plane with it," she explained.
Sarah Obama, the president-elect's step grandmother, has become a national celebrity since the Illinois senator - the Hawaiian-born son of a Kenyan father and white American mother - launched his bid for the White House.
"The day I was waiting for has finally come... I cannot hide my joy," she said. "I am going to be Kenya's ambassador during the occasion and I will live up to the expectations." ......

In your dreams.
There’s a certain phoniness to this whole thing. Obama lived in a mansion in Kenya...servants and all. I’m sure he had the best of the best. Mommy was a golddigger.
The three-legged stool that she’s bringing will be a nice match to the two-legged stool that’s moving on the 20th.
Is someone donating a prayer rug for the Oval Office, or will he bring his own?
Can’t she bring the spear as checked baggage???
I HAD a bad dream with Zero in it a few nights ago. No kidding. Talk about nightmarish scenarios, we get it in real life in a few short days....Ever since Nov.4th I have had a feeling of dread as Jan.20 approaches.
My Kenyan Grandmother you say? Damn! I thought I threw her under the bus years ago. Why wont these pesky relatives and acquaintances stay road kill like they're supposed to.
“Cant she bring the spear as checked baggage???”
At Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, spears go in the `chucked baggage’ pile.
You set `em up, I knock `em down.
H. Obama IS a bad dream. From Nov. 4 - Jan. 20 seemed like we would have enough time for a miracle. Sad time for all of us. Very scary.
Could the spear be an element added to the story for color, or could it be someone on the transition team said, no spear! We don't want to alienate anyone, and the joke potential is too high!
Actually I think it would be cool, since that IS his cultural background, much like giving pipes or a kilt with dagger to someone of Scott descent.
The difference is that Scots are not still out there killing each other with their daggers.
Actually, maybe she should have brought some tires and gasoline as her present. Any African dictator would love an additional supply of those items!
And this is why grandmaw was asked to leave the spear at home. The joke potential is way too high. Hard to shield against!
“What a pretty necklace!”
Actually all of Scotland is becoming Knife-Free because of their disarmament laws, but in many cases they are still carving each other up.
Hard to believe we have come to this.
I think his real name is barry soetoro! When did he lagally change it back when he re-entered the usa.
“Stories like this make him human.”
That’s the whole idea.
And one would think, the way the Secret Servive can move all of their armament around the world to protect the president, they could - somehow - come up with SOME way to get this spear to the White House.
I would recommend FedEx, but I suppose a “fact-finding” mission to Kenya would also work.
The saddest parts of this, is knowing that so many Americans were stupid enough to fall for the biggest con man in history. We are surrounded by idiots!
Remember “Sixth Sense” where the kid ‘sees dead people’?
Ever since Nov.4th, I can’t help but think “I see liberal people.”.
How well the decades of indoctrination in public schools has worked, millions and millions of useful idiots to vote in unqualified candidates.
“Maybe shell bring his birth certificate too.”
And his inhieritance from that Nigerian relative.
