What Does Leon Panetta Know About TWA 800

Last week, I received an email from a former 747 pilot named Thomas Young.
In early August 1996, Young explained, he was laid up in a Hong Kong hospital with a back injury. His employer, Polar Air Cargo, flew his wife Barbara out to join him. They had little else to do but watch TV. Here is what they saw.
The videotape began with people milling about on a deck facing a body of water. In the background, a streak of†light can be seen leaving a point below the edge of the deck, accelerating as it climbed; it passed behind what appeared to me to be a thin cloud layer and continued upward out of the frame, from right to left. As the streak of light disappeared beyond the edge of the frame, after a slight pause, there is a generalized, dim flash on the upper left side of the screen, followed by a brighter and more pronounced flash.
Some 270 eyewitnesses on Long Island would give formal accounts to the FBI of the same event--an apparent missile attack on TWA Flight 800 on the night of July 17,1996. Scores of them would provide detailed drawings.
Young—and Barbara confirms his story—saw the video of the event roughly four times an hour for some two weeks.

I have heard from at least a hundred individuals who saw the same video as Young. None of them could provide this level of detail, and not just because they lacked Young’s experience. The video was pulled from American TV within hours of its being first aired.

TWA 800 conspiracy theories abound. Was it fast boats with MANPADS? (Skeptics claim that TWA 800 was too high for any known MANPAD to reach.) Was it a Navy SM-1 training missile with no warhead? (Skeptics claim that it would have been impossible to keep hundreds of sailors quiet for this long.)
Like the Kennedy Grassy Knoll second shooter theory, TWA 800 will forever be steeped in controversy and mystery, and the ultimate truth will never be known.
Are there any of those left in Washington ?

Exploding Oxygen Tank Hit Cabin of Qantas Jet in Mid-Air
CANBERRA, Australia — An air safety investigator confirmed Wednesday that an exploding oxygen cylinder in the hold of a packed Qantas jetliner caused the large hole in the fuselage that forced the plane to make an emergency landing.
Correction: The valve of the oxygen bottle flew up through the floor, not the tank itself. The tank was never found.
because the incident occured off of a beach around 10 miles from my house, and I have heard in the media, many of my ‘neighbors’ who saw a missle, this is one incident that I go against my normal skeptic mode and wonder what happened that the Klinton administration did so well to hide.
And the next airplane in the flight pattern was an El Al flight.

IPS’s [Institute For Policy Studies] Washington, DC headquarters quickly became a resource center for national reporters and a place for KGB agents from the nearby Soviet embassy to convene and strategize. Cora Weiss headed one of the IPS's most successful forays -- into Riverside Church in Manhattan. She was invited there in 1978 by the Reverend William Sloane Coffin to run the church's Disarmament Program, which sought to consolidate Soviet nuclear superiority in Europe -- in the name of "peace." I was not previously aware of any of this.

Yes. I remember reading that. Also, in the article I read, it stated that TWA and El Al traded places in the lineup for take off. I don’t recall if an explanation was given as to why.
The point the article was making is that the missile was targeted for El Al but those involved had no away of knowing the aircrafts had traded positions for takeoff.
I found it to be an interesting theory.
Just sayin’...during my long career in the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club, I participated in more than a few “tracking exercises” using commercial jets as targets. We never loaded a rail, even by accident, but the possibility was always there.
