Ann Coulter Makes Stab At Single Motherhood In Controversial New Book
Phildelphia Examiner ^ | January 7, 4:56 PM

Uber conservative political commentator and author, Ann Coulter, is drumming up controversy among the masses with her new book Guilty: Liberal Victims and Their Assault on America.

The gist of her book? Liberals "playing victim" when she believes them to be the actual "victimizers."

With anything Coulter has her hand in, this latest installment is sure to get tempers flaring, especially among single mothers.

Monday night Coulter appeared on Fox News Channel's Hannity & Colmes.

Tuesday morning Coulter made a controversial appearance on NBC's Today Show (after her originally scheduled appearance was cancelled.)

In both appearances, Coulter's lastest stabs at single motherhood were discussed.

Alan Colmes quoted Coulter's book, "Single motherhood is like a farm team for future criminals and social outcasts."

And finally, "We have a term for youngsters involved, the 'children of divorce,' or as I call them, 'future strippers.'"

Coulter reverted her argument about single motherhood back to what she believes to be our country's recent "hatred" of the institution of marriage and made mention of Hollywood's promotion of single motherhood.

abortion, or a lifetime of taxpayer subsidized dysfunctional self-esteem destroying, angry, identity- destructive bastardy are not the only two exclusive choices

there is adoption

That was the choice made by the two single women whose children we are raising

"...So why doesn't Ann get married?"

I don't really see how that impacts the issues at hand in any way.

Usually, it’s a liberal that just accepts as a given that someone will make the choices leading to an unwanted pregnancy.

And Ann’s “attack” is on those who make the choice, DELIBERATELY, to be a “single mother”, bringing a future criminal into the world.

She is the most important conservative thinker for influence on the college campuses today. She fires up the few hardcore conservatives on campus and more join in and applaud her during her campus visits. There is nobody I would rather see come to Auburn or Vanderbilt or Alabama or Western Kentucky or any other school I’ve ever been around.

She is tough, articulate, and willing to go in and take the heat. I fail to see how a conservative cannot admire her.

Well, they had to find something. "Ann's down on single mothers." She probably hates fuzzy puppies too.

At some point you get a little tired of the incessant spin, but Ann has set herself up as a lightning rod (a very well-paid lightning rod) and I suppose we ought to expect lightning now and then. A Coulter BTT.

Good message, delivered by a terrible messenger.

She seems unable to actually make a point without hyperbole and insults.

Sorry, but my experience says you are wrong!

In general, human beings do not learn the most important lessons in life unless they are wacked up side the head.

This goes double for Liberals and Mush-Headed people.

It is the only way to get them to actually think about what they are doing, why they are doing it, and the consequences of their choices.

Ann Coulter just delivered this important message in the most effective manner possible!

Laura Ingraham probably understands the point Ann was driving home, which is a lot more subtle than her statement

that is the damnation of libs who attack Ann- they don't get “subtle”- they lack Ann's IQ. Or deliberately choose to be obtuse for ideological reasons.

But Laura Ingraham may decide to respond to this. She has done a thing which, frankly, is mixed.

Yes it is a good thing to adopt a child.

But a selfish act to adopt one as a single woman, health issues aside too

No, these were not the only two choices for that child. There are waiting lists of couples for adoption of almost any and every child.
There are bio parents who could keep and raise their own children if given the money single women spend to adopt

She will spend her life and treasure making up for the selfish part, as she raises the child the best she can to compensate for no Dad and removal from her native culture and birth family

I seem to recall there was quite a bit of discussion about the findings in the Bell Curve, back when it was first published. That book is still brought up on a fairly regular basis, both positively and negatively. Do you think anyone will be discussing Coulter's book a year from now?

Given that they are still talking about her previous books, the answer is obvious.

That's sad, frankly. Half a century of modern conservative writers and thinkers, and college kids decide to line up behind the ideas of a TV talking head?

Nonsense. The same young women you want to carry children to term (instead of being aborted) are being vicously attacked!

Logical dissonance.

Nope, just a two-fold purpose.

1. Promote a Pro-Life message, including Adoption.
2. Promote a sense of shame for immoral, and dangerous behaviors.

You can do both, and if don't, you are also morally bankrupt.

-don’t forget Ann is a lawyer and very intelligent. yes, she has developed a spiel and a TV persona, but she is first and foremost a scholar....the footnotes in her books would make your head spin. I have seen her speak and it was like a comedienne delivering one liners and getting laughs...I enjoy Ann, she is a fighter with a smile for the conservative position.

Ann is a constitutional Lawyer and has written many factual, logically written, and completely supported by fact books about issues important to the battle between Right and Wrong(the Left).

Have you even read her books?

Have you noticed the voluminous level of supporting footnotes she includes in each of her books?

What books have you written?

What have you done to support the conservative movement besides post on a conservative forum?

Laura Ingraham adopted a young girl from Guatemala. Is that a problem?

“...Ann is a lawyer and very intelligent...”

Yes, but after hearing John McCain reach out to the other side so often I find Ann’s brashness and willingness to attack so refreshing.

And you’re right she has a great smile and uses it too.

I know the feeling.........We should go back to the “commodity” days before Kennedy-Johnson and the (Not So) Great Society. Cans of butter, flour, cheese, peanut butter, powdered eggs and what have you from the government were given out each month. You may not had money, but you had food...........

Ann is making a point that I first heard Dr. Laura make. I enjoy hearing Ann say it.

I have never seen anything Michael Moore or Cindy Sheehan or Bill Ayers said get labelled “controversial” in a headline.

Yours is a BS statement. Charles Murray said basically the same thing in his book The Bell Curve. It was ignored. Was it not the New York Senator before Hillary who said the same thing back in the 60’s. He was ignored. People have been saying this for but always in the dry language of the academic. The way Ann Coulter says it makes people take notice. It makes people talk. It shakes and wakes people up.

Well said.

"We have a term for youngsters involved, the 'children of divorce,' or as I call them, 'future strippers.'"

So is Coulter's arguement that divorce should not be allowed? Or that if people divorce then should lose custody of their children?
