Gaza Strip is a concentration camp, says Vatican
The Australian ^ | From correspondents in Rome

THE Gaza Strip has been turned into a "concentration camp" by two weeks of Israeli bombardments, said a senior Vatican official. Cardinal Renato Martino, the Vatican's justice and peace minister, was quoted by the online Italian daily Il Sussidiario. "Let's look at the conditions in Gaza: these increasingly resemble a big concentration camp," said Cardinal Martino.

No, the Pope is holy. You can be holy too. For what purpose did Jesus shed his blood?

Send them to Jordan. That country was "invented" for the Arab muslims. The so called "Palestinians" were so badly behaved that even the muslims in Jordan wanted no part of them. Now they exist as a festering sore. Nobody wants them, yet the muslim Arabs insist on using them as a cudgel against Israel. There's plenty of open land that could be occupied by the "Palestinians". There is no particular reason for them to be in Gaza. Clearly, they are poor stewards of the land. They pissed and moaned about the way the Israeli settlers had all the "good" land in Gaza. When the Israeli jews were forced out, the "Palestinians" were incapable of leveraging the same value from the vacated land and facilities. It's the same land, so apparently the defect lies with the ineptness of the "Palestinians".

With great respect for the Vatican and their convictions —

How long do the Israeli’s put up with the rockets and missiles, the homicide bombers and the hatred?

Was more than 2000 years in exile not enough for the Jewish people? Were the repeated attempts to exterminate Israel from the time of their Egyptian bondage to Hitler’s holocaust not enough?

Are half a dozen wars of defense — not only of their land, but of their very lives and existence — not enough?

Israel has been MORE than longsuffering. They have exhausted EVERY last resort and then gone beyond that, time and again. No war could be more just than the one they are waging in Gaza right now.

Israel is not committing genocide, and they are not motivated by the desire to exterminate “Palestinians.” But that CAN’T be said about the majority of Palestinians in Gaza. They are as radicalized as Hezbollah, Al Queda, the Taliban and the Iranians.

War is an awful reality — but it IS a reality. And there can be only one outcome in a war forced upon a people — victory, or defeat. I hope Israel chooses victory. For the Vatican to insist on less is not only naive, it’s SINFUL.

Right, because rockets were continually fired at Berlin from inside Dachau by the inmates. No wait...

Liars and fools. No other words for it.

Has he condemned it yet, and discipined the speaker for making it?

Get back to us on that...

"Not one comment on here about the cardinal’s words has addressed their truth or falsity."

Actually, there've been plenty. Gaza is a terrorist infestation whose elected leaders (Hamas) target civilian population centers with missiles and have vowed in their Charter to annihilate a sovereign state (Israel). The Cardinal's definition of "concentration camp" is warped, to put it mildly.

"I truly wonder if some of you will ever figure out why the Arabs hate us"

Don't be shy, Robwin. Tell us why you think they hate us.

I count at least three biters above. As your attorney, I advise you to hold them in suspense.

Right. If it's a concentration camp then maybe Cardinal Goombah can arrange to close it down and relocate the "prisoners" to his own turf. Call it an act of Christian charity. See what happens.

True, and no one knows that more than he.

On matters of church doctrine and interpretation, (which is therefore, Christian doctrine and interpretation since ALL Christian’s roots are in the Catholic church) however, he is infallible.

Deal with it.

“The Roman Catholic church does more good in a week than the rest of the religions combined do in a year. Get your eyes checked if you think otherwise.”

Chill out. I would say that is a subjective comment, at best. Don’t let someone else get you so wound up that you start offending others of us.>>>

It is a factual statement that does not see the light of day often enough. If you deny it is factual you are in error and would only be offended to have been discoverd to be so.

Hey Popey!!!! How many years of rocket attacks did the Jews attack the Germans with from Auschwitz?

Cardinal Martino is not the Pope, dumb ass.

His words do not reflect the official Church position on this matter.

As someone who does missionary work, who is related to pastors and missionaries currently in the field, and whose forefathers have been pastors and missionaries dating back to at least the 1600’s, I find that offensive. You cannot quantify your statement.

If we are all on the same team, then let’s leave it at that.

The fact that you had to reach back a couple of centuries to bolster yourself says it all.

Pathetic.

I’ll read my Bible, and trust God to guide me in understanding. Someone may help me understand more background about it, but God’s Word was written for all to read.

Dude, get off your high horse. Catholics will not be the only people in Heaven, nor are they the only ones who carry out God’s work. I spend as much time working in His name as anyone who is not vocational clergy, and I am not sure why you are lashing out.

“ALL Christian’s roots are in the Catholic church”

That’s totally false. Christian’s roots are in Christ himself. The Catholic church, like the Mormons, base their entire religion on one verse in the Bible. Catholics are truly followers of Mary, not Christ.
