Israeli tank column enters Gaza: witness

GAZA (Reuters) – A column of Israeli tanks, some firing their weapons, rolled into the northern Gaza Strip on Saturday, a Palestinian witness said, in what appeared to be the beginning of a ground offensive against Islamist Hamas.
The witness, a resident of the Gaza town of Beit Lahiya, said the column crossed the boundary fence under darkness and was accompanied by Israeli combat helicopters.
The witness could not immediately say how deep the Israelis had penetrated into Palestinian territory.
Same as before, they want to prevent the deaths of “civilians” who routinely strap on nail bombs to kill Israelis eating their lunch.
Their Ambassador on TV is worried about the “international community” opinions.

I’m glad they are doing this now. I have no doubt in my mind that Obozo would try and stop this.
So, the spin of this incursion is that they know they can do it NOW, under the watch of George W, and they CAN’T with the other guy after Obama is sworn in...is this plausible?

Israel has to take action now. They won't get any US government support, physically (weapons sales) or morally (pro-Israel government statements like this) after January 19. Don't see Obama saying something like this -- after all he's "a citizen of the world" which generally means the Israeli-haters.
