Bristol Palin Welcomes a Son

Bristol Palin, the 18-year-old daughter of former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, gave birth on Sunday to a healthy 7 lb., 4 oz., baby boy in Palmer, Alaska.

"We think it's wonderful," said Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol's grandmother Sally Heath, who confirmed the news. "The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited."

The baby's name is Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, according to Jones.

Baby Tripp takes his surname from his dad, Levi Johnston, an apprentice electrician and former Wasilla High School hockey player who has been dating Bristol for three years.

Bristol Palin is currently residing in Wasilla and completing her high-school diploma through correspondence courses.

Johnston is studying to become an electrician. He told the Associated Press in October that he and fiancée Bristol plan to wed in 2009 and raise the child together.

They should have gotten married before this.

I pray for Bristol and Tripp, especially that she makes wise decisions concerning his future.

Happy news! Tripp w/uncles Track and Trig and aunts Willow and Piper, kind of carries on the tradition even if they are unusual.

To me, its a little too close to Trig and Track. I would have been a rebel...my favorite boy name is Matthew.

You would be a reverse rebel. Matthew was the ninth most popular boy’s name in 2007, acc to Social Security.

Congratulations to the parents, and grandparents. This may not have been the ideal situation in which to welcome a child, but the fact that the two young parents chose to take responsibility for their irresponsible actions that led to conception speaks well of them. I wish them the best!

I hope Bristol and the Dad do just like all those rich Hollywood stars do - bid out the first pictures to the media’s highest bidder, and keep all the money to themselves. May God bless the entire family.

They should have gotten married before this.

There are solid legal reasons (for the guy) to wait until after the baby is born. No competent lawyer would advise otherwise in most states.

Tripp w/uncles Track and Trig

If you take a long Tripp, you need to keep Track of where you are, and a little Trig may be needed to keep Track. ;)

Ilove it when nice Americans of Christian faith have babies too. I am just surprised that Christian names aren’t used for the children. Oh well, to each their own.

If they were dems we would already know how much a magazine had paid for them.
