The chairman of the Republican National Committee said he was "appalled" by a song called "Barack the Magic Negro" on a CD distributed by one of his political rivals.
"The 2008 election was a wake-up call for Republicans to reach out and bring more people into our party," RNC Chairman Mike Duncan said in a statement reported Saturday afternoon by Politico.
"I am shocked and appalled that anyone would think this is appropriate, as it clearly does not move us in the right direction."
Chip Saltsman sent RNC members the parody CD "We Hate the USA" for Christmas, which includes the controversial tune. He defended his decision Friday, telling CNN the song was clearly intended as a joke.
"I think most people recognize political satire when they see it," Saltsman told CNN. "I think RNC members understand that."

Me too! Dammit, I'm gonna spend all of 2009 being shocked and appalled.
“Where was all the outrage when Sarah was being called White Trash and a Nazi sympathizer. The RNC never came to her defense but they are outraged by this song, give me a break!!”
Good point. The GOP power base are all starting to sound like John McCain. And we’d better start paying attention.
When the MSM questioned him about Paul Shanklin's music, he merely should have said "no comment, this is not a RNC product" and left it at that.
Apparently, one of the gift recipients didn't like the Shanklin album and leaked the story about the Salsman gift to the MSM. Whoever did the leaking should be forced out together with Duncan.
The 2008 (and 2006) election was a wake-up call for the Republicans to stop trying to out-pander the Dems. That's where they went wrong, and this clown Duncan seems to have no clue, and seems to think we need to just pander more and pander harder. Until they party gets back to appealing to all potential voters on the same basis, it'll continue to have damaging internal fights and continue to lose elections.
As long as we hear talk of appealing to groups, and bringing in new categories of people, we'll know the party is becoming even weaker instead of stronger.
Uh, Mr. Chairman...can we parody “Chocolate City” by Parliament instead? Or maybe “Jigga What Jigga Who” by Jay-Z? Or how about...well, just about anything by Eazy-E and/or NWA? Because I’m all about the community outreach.
That’s what both the Dems and Repubs fear most....a popular third party.
I believe both sides put forth efforts to keep things as a 2-party system... and could even explain the massive efforts to criticize Sarah Palin. She would make a great third party candidate with a great chance of winning.
If this the first time this idiot has heard this song, then he hasn’t been listening to Rush. Furthermore, if he wasn’t listening to Rush, no wonder we lost so many seats. Rush gave good advice that should have been followed

I think it will happen eventually but it will take a lot of money. Unfortunately, it’s always about the money. Sarah Palin would be a great leader, though.
We need a second one....
Mentioning Parliament just brings back memories of out last three Presidents-George, Clinton, George, George Clinton...
Thanks justiceseeker93.

Another RINO that just doesn’t get it. And now it is time for him to go and make way for someone interested in our country and not just making nice.
“The chairman of the Republican National Committee said he was “appalled” by a song called “Barack the Magic Negro” on a CD distributed by one of his political rivals.”
How old is this child???
This guy is an example of why the Republican party is such a failure today. Reach out? I think I want to barf. The sooner we get rid of these RINO creeps the better.
Did the moron end his statement with, “See how politically correct I am?”
RNC Chairman Mike Duncan
I believe it could be done through grassroots, especially using the internet.
If all true conservatives (how many millions of people?) just sent in five or ten dollars, the funding would be there.
The GOP better go back to conservatism, or a strong third party is ready and will spring up.
OUT with RNC Chairman Mike Duncan!
WE WANT SOME FIGHTERS, NOT WHINERS!
Simple, force the switching of positions in the party, conservatives make all policy and decisions, RINOs contribute lots of money and have NO say whatsoever. If the RINOs don't like it, they can go join the Rat party and have NO say whatsoever.
The best hope for America is the complete destruction of the Republican party, and the sooner the better.
