RNC chairman condemns controversial Obama song (Oh Please! Get a grip RINOs)

The chairman of the Republican National Committee said he was "appalled" by a song called "Barack the Magic Negro" on a CD distributed by one of his political rivals.

"The 2008 election was a wake-up call for Republicans to reach out and bring more people into our party," RNC Chairman Mike Duncan said in a statement reported Saturday afternoon by Politico.

"I am shocked and appalled that anyone would think this is appropriate, as it clearly does not move us in the right direction."

Chip Saltsman sent RNC members the parody CD "We Hate the USA" for Christmas, which includes the controversial tune. He defended his decision Friday, telling CNN the song was clearly intended as a joke.

"I think most people recognize political satire when they see it," Saltsman told CNN. "I think RNC members understand that."

My point exactly. The GOP is hopeless.

Feb. 12, 2009 will be the tenth anniversary of the beginning of the GOP’s disintegration. That is because when they were called upon to act with courage to try Clinton in the Senate, they folded like a stack of cards(thanks, Trent!).

Everything since then has been on a downhill slide.

We conservatives gave Bush his two victories, and instead of rewarding us, he went lusting after Dem acceptance while they crapped all over him.

How much longer can we beat our heads against the wall in the vain hopes that the GOP will somehow wake up?

How many more election cycles can we endure now that we have a Marxist ready to be sworn in as President?

To me, the betrayal of even REPUBLICAN principles by this GOP is what has put our country at risk. They, led by McIdiot, threw this election, which was an absolute repudiation of the GOP brand by the electorate thanks to spineless, aimless, unprincipled leadership. They allowed a warped media template to succeed in branding the GOP as irrevelant by a media in love with Obama.

The failure of the GOP is massive.

Why rebuild with them? We are the ones who gave them an additional eight years to get it right.

They failed. Good, they can go the way of the Whigs for all I care.

They are what they are, and they are not going to change. I refuse to participate in the Stockholm Syndrome of some conservatives who think the GOP is the only political option open to them.

The GOP has willingly particpated in the economic collapse of our country, aided by a President who thinks bailouts will save the day.

Now, that the GOP is in a minority position that may last for two decades, do you really think they are about to dig in, draw a line in the sand, and fight Obamaism and the Dems? Or will they just roll over and want their bellies scratched while the Dems complete the dismantling of America?

This is what the GOP allowed to happen.

The GOP has one hope—a real maverick, a real leader, a real American, a real conservative—Sarah Palin—and they are trying to destroy her.

That tells me all I need to know about the GOP.

You stay and swim against the tide if you want.

I want to swim in a new direction.

And will your new direction accomplish anything more than splitting the party just when we are beginning a new beginning, hopefully one that will reestablish conservatism?Doubtful.

For me the Republican brand is still worth fighting for.

When someone steals my candy I don't go back to the candy store and buy more. I run after them and kick their ass. If I get beat up I regroup and go back for more until I succeed in kicking their ass.

Second party will always be big tent. You need to go third if you want ideology.

Anybody but me remember the Reagan coalition?

Whatever makes you think somebody with Mike Duncan's instincts would've been Chairman of the RNC under Reagan?

I've no objection to people like Duncan being in the party. Lord knows, there's room for "moderates". But said moderates needn't be serving in positions of authority, setting direction for what should be a conservative party.

Or serving as public embarrassments...

After the last election loss, we need more GOP-not less. As for Reagan, he built a coalition-social conservatives, working class (union former Democrats) and fiscal conservatives. You have to make room for people who may not agree with you on all issues...the reality is if you don’t, you become a regional party-mostly in the South and never win national elections.

I don’t agree with you. If Duncan said he didn’t like the song he is telling the truth. I don’t like it either. It is a racist song. It’s racist even though it tries to convey the message that it’s not because it is so obvious. Sometimes when something is that obvious it is telling the truth. It’s like when someone does something mean and then just says they were kidding. Only arrogant people like Rush would ever think that they can get away with such a stunt. The song sucks. There is no reason why people have to be racist just because they are conservative. That’s what the liberals like everyone to believe. I think that Duncan was just saying what he feels. The song is offensive. I don’t care how many jokes the liberals have told have certain conservatives. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

You sure you've expressed yourself wisely?

Yep.

The best (and only) social model that can save and restore America is conservatism.

Observation of history and past great nations shows that liberalism and socialism ALWAYS destroy the society, nation and civilization. History reveals that genocide, slavery, pogroms, concentration camps, and gulags ALWAYS rise from SOCIALIST philosophies.

ONLY conservative philosophies can prevent this. The RINO Republican party prevents conservative models from being presented to the public, and attacks those policies and individuals rather than defending them. The RINOS pander with socialism light and moral equivalency, and siphon enough fence straddlers to ensure no conservative gains while communists infiltrate government "service" and become unfireable.

If the Republican party disappeared, conservatives would group together and present conservative values and candidates to the electorate. With no ringer RINOs siphoning votes to the single RINOcrat party, we would have TWO party elections and a chance to save the nation (and civilization).

I don't know about brilliant, but it's bloody self-evident :(

We need a new party.

Since when did being a racist make someone a conservative? This isn’t 1950 anymore. This is really out of touch. Racism has no room in national politics. Despite the fact that liberals themselves are racist the way they pander to certain groups. We still need to keep our nose clean. I don’t care how disgusting the other side gets. That’s not moderate, that being decent.

I don’t generally read the LA Times. However, this has nothing to do with making a parody song which makes conservatives-including Rush-appear to be racist. It basically sends a message ‘Whites only in the GOP’ to the voters. The GOP wonders why their membership is down!

This parady song conveys nothing that conservatives believe in...it’s racist. Rush should not have done it. He should know better.

I understand your position—but we have already done that-in 2000 and especially in 2004, when between the SwiftBoatVets and FreeRepublic unmasking Rathergate, we helped Bush win and the Republicans to gain seats in Congress. Both initiatives, as you’ll recall, were grass root conservative issues and roundly panned by Bush, Rove, etc.

The RINOs have been in charge since then, and they are deaf to the obvious lessons learned.

From your tagline, you like Sarah. So do I. The GOP has no intention of getting her upfront in 2012.

Let’s start a new candy store. Their asses have been kicked once already, and they aren’t worth kicking anymore.

Rush is an entertainer. In my opinion, this song sucks. He should not have played it on his show. However, he is not elected to anything. But when elected GOP start passing it around...then it becomes a GOP problem. It’s a racist song and makes us look like a bunch of KKK types. Conservatives are not like this...we have spent years trying to demonstrate this...why why do this now?

The RNC is not whites only, but like courting Hamas, courting and American blacks is non productive. They will not desert the democrats.

Making fun of their man is fair game andthe fact they are offended is of no consequence. It is going to get a lot worse for them before it gets better. Their habit of being offended and getting their way is over.

Obama was asked “Do you want to know how to make peace in Israel?”

He replied “ I’m all ears”

Making fun of the man is fair game...however this song is offensive period. It’s not funny, and it demeans the GOP. The RNC will become whites only if they continue on this path.

Pay attention..... For all practical purposes, it now has almost no blacks. The blacks want free pie and that is not a Republican platform plank. Free Pie is Democrat.

What, in heaven's name, is "racist" about the parody?

How and when did Negro become an "indecent" term?

Is it "immoderate", "indecent", even "racist", to parody a black man? Is that your point?

I feel the cold chill of political correctness descending upon our national conversation...

You have to make room for people who may not agree with you on all issues...

But do you put those who fundamentally disagree with you in charge of running the show?

C'mon now. Isn't that taking "tolerance" a little far...???
