RNC chairman condemns controversial Obama song (Oh Please! Get a grip RINOs)

The chairman of the Republican National Committee said he was "appalled" by a song called "Barack the Magic Negro" on a CD distributed by one of his political rivals.

"The 2008 election was a wake-up call for Republicans to reach out and bring more people into our party," RNC Chairman Mike Duncan said in a statement reported Saturday afternoon by Politico.

"I am shocked and appalled that anyone would think this is appropriate, as it clearly does not move us in the right direction."

Chip Saltsman sent RNC members the parody CD "We Hate the USA" for Christmas, which includes the controversial tune. He defended his decision Friday, telling CNN the song was clearly intended as a joke.

"I think most people recognize political satire when they see it," Saltsman told CNN. "I think RNC members understand that."

conservative thinkers who happen to be black would find this song offensive.

No they wouldn't or they wouldn't be conservatives. I doubt many liberal blacks would find it offensive. After all it was a liberal black who first coined the term "Magic Negro" in reference to 0bama.

I can not believe how stupid the GOP is...distributing CD’s of this? Wow, they look like racists and sore losers at the same time...only the GOP could manage this. How can anyone on this thread think it’s a good idea to do this?

...exactly how will we win elections when we drive people out of the party?

The people driven out of the GOP are the conservatives. They were driven out by stupid RINO gutlessness like this.

If you think blacks would not be offended by this CD, there is no use talking about it...completely out of touch with reality. Why do you think it’s being reported. Since when have the drive by media ever tried to make the GOP look good? This will offend people and not just black either. I don’t like it.

Why do you think it’s being reported. (?)

Talk about out of touch with reality. This parody has been playing on the radio for over six months. Why is it being written about now instead of during the campaign season when it might have helped the Dems? The problem with conservatism it it requires you to think. Which is undoubtedly why you have a problem with it.

I heard it on Rush months ago. I know that, but now it’s being reported by MSM-ask yourself why?

Also, the Dems downplayed Obama being black...he was the best candidate who happened to be black by their description. This is an attack on the GOP.

If you say so. I have not noticed any truly conservative states like GA going blue so I assume conservatives are still voting GOP. I have seen moderate states that the GOP used to win going blue however.

It was based on a liberal op/ed column by the LA Times and one of their leftist reporters.

I must have missed your outrage when the original article was written?

I’d rather be a minority conservative party than quasi liberal dem lite party.
So if RNC Chairman Mike Duncan is interested only in playing dem lite to attract rino turds he can go to hell.

CGG, RINOism is the DOMINANT force in the GOP.

I have really bad news for you. If RINOism is the dominant force in the GOP, it is hopeless because there are only so many of us human beings available with which to build a political party.

I have worked in the political realm for many years. I am a very conservative Republican. I've had to put up with RINOs and they are exasperating. There are times you want to wring their necks. This even happens with fellow conservatives because even we do not always see eye to eye.

We have to build on what we have. I agree that we MUST be better at convincing others that conservatism is the way to go but defecting and believing that there is a perfect party out there just waiting to be formed is to believe in fairy tales.

It ain't gonna happen. It can't happen. We don't have the possibility of enough fellow conservatives available with which to do it.

We had better face reality and hope to convince enough others that we can get the job done.

Even then, I'm not optimistic. With the growth of the size of government, we have too many who are voting in what they perceive to be in their own best interest instead of what is right.

It's called human nature but we must keep trying. Surrender is not an option.

Absolutely! It's fruitless to worry about one small issue like this when the rats commit dozens of huge issues that destroy the country every day! Courtesy of the DBM these errors in judgment go unanswered and unnoticed forever.

To get outraged over losing a group that is already bought and paid for with blind allegiance no matter how many times they are thrown under the bus is silly.

Better that the RNC worry about losing their core,we conservatives, than a group that blindly votes rat 90-95% of the time regardless of the facts.

Excellent post Ronald Reagan's mgmt. style is what is needed. People on both sides of the equation need a standard,a principled leader,a philosophy that does not get watered down time after time,a solid core that says we stand for America, what is right for the country not total political expedience.

We have not had such a leader in a while.

I don't think we shall see such a "leader" until conservatives recognize that single-issue demands tend to draw and quarter even the most decent of people. The best that can happen then is the candidate will have to draw "concessions" or do things "lite" in order to satisfy the majority of voters driven by "single-issues".

This is a problem which really needs address.

Where some folks see "rino" I've come to see candidates who have drawn themselves into an insulated position. Of course, I don't include Chuck Hagel in this category.

Put another way, if an entire wing or two of conservative voters refuse to vote for a candidate because he isn't perfectly ("purely"?) on the page with them on their single-issue, the candidate will therefore have to attempt to make up the difference by attracting votes from other sides of the political domain, providing that many of the conservative agenda items will be presented "which is better than none".

Yes, I have come to believe that RINOs are created by the voting population.

Now, I know what Rush says, as do many on this board... about "talking conservatism and winning elections".

But I'm from the nastiest liberal hotbed in CA. And that proclamation just doesn't hold. However, that proclamation DOES hold better where I live now.

Even the best of leaders can't be right on every single issue.

But what gets a leader long lasting respect is that he/she stands for what he believes and believes what he stands for. Reagan was that man over and over. Respect is the key.

When you are a leader and the opposition blasts you and you say nothing, it gets difficult to maintain respect whether you are right or not.

A skilled leader can make fools of left leaning opponents time after time--just look at how Newt so skillfully makes the rats look like fools over and over again.

Once again however, its not that you have to be right on every single issue, few are, it's the respect that you garner. Respect from you side and fear from the other side. Those two ingredients create a strong leader.

Demorats are incapable of being strong leaders since they have no core. They have no principles except the policy of expedience. They will do whatever it takes to score/buy votes. It's all they have, all they do, all they ever concentrate their efforts on. Therein lies the difference between us and them.

They care nothing for the well being of the country only the advance of Socialism.

We care for the country, a free America, and Free Market Capitalism. Huge differences there.
