The chairman of the Republican National Committee said he was "appalled" by a song called "Barack the Magic Negro" on a CD distributed by one of his political rivals.
"The 2008 election was a wake-up call for Republicans to reach out and bring more people into our party," RNC Chairman Mike Duncan said in a statement reported Saturday afternoon by Politico.
"I am shocked and appalled that anyone would think this is appropriate, as it clearly does not move us in the right direction."
Chip Saltsman sent RNC members the parody CD "We Hate the USA" for Christmas, which includes the controversial tune. He defended his decision Friday, telling CNN the song was clearly intended as a joke.
"I think most people recognize political satire when they see it," Saltsman told CNN. "I think RNC members understand that."

BUMP
Mike Duncan has totally lost me now. If he continues as chair I will not donate one cent to the RNC. He is letting the press and the dems define him.
I completely agree with all this. We have to defeat the RINOS at the primary level.
I’m sorry, this is just plain stupid and based purely on emotion with no logic attached.
Start by convincing the RINOS. That’s what we have to do.
I never heard of the RNC going after Rich Little in “the big game”. Idiots
Unfortunately, we tried that (See Toomey against Specter in 2004) but the establishment always back the RINOs.
If the GOP doesn't overhaul its primaries, then there's no sense of continuing to support Republicans because Dems and indies will always cross over and vote for the most liberal one.
PERFECT quote from the man himself. Thanks for posting that!

CGG, RINOism is the DOMINANT force in the GOP.
So why should we support a bunch of losers?
I can no longer ignore the willful spinelessness, cluelessness, weakness, indifference, and cowardice of the GOP.
Sarah Palin is their best hope for 2012, but they are too busy trying to help in her destruction to realize it.
You cannot fix this level of stupidity. The GOP is not the home of conservatives.
They will be absorbed by the Democrats if they continue in this direction, and they will be happy for that to happen.
The GOP has nothing, and I mean nothing to offer anyone—they are content to be Democrat lite, and McCain as their candidate showed it. That Duncan could even make the statement echoing the media driven complaint that the GOP has to reach out to survive shows the level of infection to which RINOism has developed.
It can no longer be ignored. Had we won this election, we could have broken the back of the Dem party for good. Thanks to RINOism, we will all suffer over the next four years for their lack of fight.
See Minnesota’s senatorial election—that is the future of the GOP—with rampant vote fraud stealing state after state.
Absolutely! The RINOs just had their dream candidate, and they have the unmitigated gall to blame conservatives for our humiliation. One thing of value that has come from this election is the fact that a lot of RINOs have stepped forward to clearly identify themselves as such.
Beginning in 2010 and continuing until the job is finished, we should vote out virtually every incumbent Republican because the current party is worse than useless.

Reason #5,367 to leave the GOP. Under the sub-heading of “spineless.”
And eliminate pussies like you, Mike, ol' buddy, ol' pal.
This is getting pretty old. A lot of white people are more offended nowadays about racial matters than the blacks who are the common target. It seems more often than not, the ones screaming racism are ironically the most racist of all and they don't even realize their own hypocrisy.
No one here wants to appeal to black voters. Liberals pander to skin colors. We want to appeal to conservative thinkers.
They don’t want to listen. They would rather undermine the party for decades, then defect.
Exactly what does one say to Jim Jeffords?
conservative thinkers who happen to be black would find this song offensive. It seems to me-as one poster noted-it confirms people’s belief that conservatives are racist to the core. Now, we know this is not true so why give this erroneous impression? I don’t think it’s all that funny.
Also, the last election clearly demonstrates just how little the GOP wishes to appeal to voters...we don’t care about voters in California,New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia...exactly how will we win elections when we drive people out of the party? Do you think we can win with some Southern states (not VA or NC)? Somehow, I don’t think so.
Come on-let’s not play stupid. ‘Negro’ is a word that hasn’t been used in decades and you know it. It’s offensive and was meant to be offensive. I just don’t understand how it benefits the GOP to offend people and make people think conservatives are racist.
Yeah, we need less Republicans in the party then we can really... win-I doubt it. Anybody but me remember the Reagan coalition?
