December 19, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Can you imagine if "the experts" suggested that genetic tests be done on all pregnant women to screen for supposedly undesirable racial characteristics or a propensity for homosexuality (if that could be done), with the goal of vastly reducing the number of babies born with those traits? There would a clarion outcry.
Well, that is precisely what is happening in Australia, only the targets are unborn babies with Down syndrome, people that "the experts" want very much to cull from society by preventing most from ever being born. From the story:
Australia urgently needs a national screening policy for Down syndrome, experts say, after international research showed it could halve the number of babies born with the incurable genetic condition. Access to the four tests that help detect if a foetus has Down syndrome varies widely ... leading to stark differences in birth and termination rates...
Euan Wallace, professor of obstetrics at Monash University, said: In Australia in 2008 every single woman should be offered and have access to state-of-the-art screening tests irrespective of age.... Professor Wallace said NSW Health's age-based policy is 15 years out of date and not good public health policy.
This is rank eugenics. Germans in the 1930s called it racial hygiene. Not long ago, it was considered the worst sort of bigotry. Not today, apparently because "the experts" tell us so.
Babies with Down won't be the only casualties of this pogrom, either. Making these tests universal will also result in the unintended deaths of babies that would have been born without a disability. As I noted in a previous SHS post:
Two healthy babies are miscarried for every three Down Syndrome babies that are detected and prevented from being born, research has suggested...
Oh well, just collateral damage in the "urgently" needed effort to cleanse Australia from the scourge of the sweetest human beings who walk on the planet Earth.
Culture of Death? What Culture of Death? Wesley, it is all in your paranoid imaginings.

And everyone wants to think it is anything but eugenics.

Scary times indeed.
When it comes to exterminating Leftwingtards and Eugenicists there is probably some hope ~ so that should be tried first ~ before this other stuff.

Already is being done in Denmark.
Since 2005, the number of Downs syndrome babies born per year in Denmark has fallen by 50%.
No way! That would mean I would not have one of my grandsons!
Not only would people be denied the joy of a Down child, tens of thousands of babies who DO NOT have Downs will be put to death based on false-positive tests.
Joy?
I've heard people wish for a boy or a girl.
They might hope the child is born with blue eyes or brown hair.
How many folks wish their child to be born with Downs Syndrome?
I don't recall offering an opinion on how many people do wish for this.
I am sorry that you suffer from the inability to comprehend joy.
My son and daughter knew that they were going to have a Down Sybdrome baby and they went ahead with the birth. My grandson had not intestinal or heart problems which are very common. My daughter in law is a nurse and was able to work with my grandson to correct his posture.
He is so dear to me.
Now, let’s consider Sarah and Todd Palin. They also decided to birth a Down Syndrome child. So are you going to hold that against them too?
God loves all these babies. Probably even more than the normal children or you or me.
May God continue to bless these children born with Down Syndrome and their families.
Nobody whishes it mate but my Nephew, who has downs, is an absolute joy. These kids bring a joy that others do not and you have to have on to appreciate it.
Cheers
Mel
I’m sure all these parents of Down Syndrome babies will be blessed abundantly in heaven. Perhaps some people are too concerned with the modern world and have their eyes on the wrong things such as worldly possessions.
These parents “Yes” to God parallels the greatest — soon to be spoken of in the Nativity narrative at Mass (including the Annunciation to Mary.)
Excuse me while I faint.
What is wrong with people’s minds and hearts? A baby is a baby, you take what you are given, you don’t pick and choose.
I’m speechless. Just . . . . . .
Conspiracy to Commit Murder, nothing less. I’m sure Mengala was considered an “expert”.
Dr. Josef Mengele was born on March 16, 1911, the eldest of three sons of Karl and Walburga Mengele. Josef was refined, intelligent and popular in his town. He studied philosophy at Munich and medicine at Frankfurt University. In 1935 his dissertation dealt with racial differences in the structure of the lower jaw.
In 1937 he joined the Nazi party, then in 1938 he went to the SS. In 1942 he was wounded at the Russian front and was pronounced unfit for duty. After that he volunteered to go to the concentration camp, he was sent to the death camp, Auschwitz.

Lovely post Salvation - Down Syndrome kids are a constant demand on your time and energy and yet if your answer to God is Yes and you give willingly and generously of your time and energy the rewards are fabulous.
Blessings
