Nope.

It's run by the same UAW weenies who are bent on strangling the whole industry. Ford will probably just be the last to go.

I'm buying non-union from now on.

Ford has decided that they really don’t want the strings that would be attached to the bailout.

Just bought a 2008 F250 Super Duty 4X4 four weeks ago.. almost $11k off the sticker price. I was a GM fan for years but in 1998 I bought my first Ford truck and I would never go back.

In another post about the situation, Orange1998 is saying: Just across the wire. Ford now demanding 9 Billion credit line.

To be perfectly honest, I hate FORD, have hated Ford since my 1996 POS Taurus which spent more time in the shop than it did on the road; BUT of late, I’ve decided to become a LOYAL Ford customer from this point forward. I think my next car will be a Ford, and I will have it serviced by Ford. I hope others reward Ford with consumer loyalty for their outstanding, stand up behavior in this situation.

People who are looking at long term play on a stock.. FORD has been a bargain for a long time now as far as I’m concerned. Yes its not a short term play, its a VERY LONG TERM play, but its worth the gamble in my book.

American car makers are stupid. Apparently, Ford is the least stupid of the three. I guess that makes Ford Moe to GM’s Larry and Chrysler’s Curly.

I bought American forever, and kept dealing with crappy cars. When the American makers started to improve quality in the early 90s I thought they had turned the corner. Nope. Once people started to buy their crap, they reverted to making lousy cars again. My 2002 Pontiac Bonneville was the last straw. That darn car would break in the driveway. Never again. Never, ever, will I buy another Pontiac. I traded the Bonneville in on a 2005 Camry and the difference is amazing. The gas door actually opens. The Camry has a steering radius of a car, not that of a dump truck like the Bonneville.

My wife bought an 08 Escape. It’s a re-badged Mazda, and it’s a nice vehicle. A little underpowered in it’s 4 cylinder form, but other than that, an outstanding car. But I hear Ford is ending their relationship with Mazada?

I don’t want to see people out of work, it will hurt us all, but giving money to the whores at the big 3 will result in nothing more than delaying the inevitible. Let them die, an American maker will take their place. If their is a void, it will be filled. And the new maker, whoever it is, is bound to be better.

When the government screws the component supplier base by supporting GM and Chrysler bankruptcy, they’re all going to start demanding cash to ship parts. Ford could potentially get wiped out for not bellying up to the trough in the first place.

I don’t like the bailout mania, but I can see reaasons for the request.

Ford has been closing Plants in North America for years and building all over the world.

I just counted Ford plants on Wikipedia
91 foreign plants (includes 3 in Canada) (closed 4 in Canada in last three years)
29 US plants

And Ford is the in better shape of the Big three because of closing 14 plants in the US in the last two years.
Nothing wrong with Unions but Union leaders are a problem.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_assembly_plants

Most advanced auto plant in world:
Video of Brazil Plant
This is VERY interesting .. it is a short video of a new Ford plant in Brazil. One look at this and you will be able to tell why there will probably never be another assembly plant built in the USA. It will also point out why more assembly plants will go offshore. After you watch this, you really need to decide if we can afford to throw more money away on a futile cause - because those companies are never going to be able to change enough to be successful until the UAW is willing to make some huge changes. And that seems unlikely.

I think they had wanted a 9 billion line of credit for in case they needed to tap it.

I was going to buy myself a Dodge Charger SRT-8 for Christmas until Chrysler decided they wanted government money.

I've purchased American cars exclusively my whole life, but I think it is time for a change. A friend recently bought himself a Nissan GT-R and seems to be enjoying it. It is somewhat more expensive than the SRT-8, but still a bargain for what it is and Nissan doesn't seem intent upon robbing me via government force.

Chrysler is owned by Cerberus, for whom until recently I had a great deal of respect. I spend thousands of dollars a year on products from Cerberus-owned companies. Or at least I did.

As for Ford, I might consider some of their products except for the fact of knowing how they misspend the money they are given. They are my enemies in the culture war, and I will not willingly fund them.
