ATLANTA A Muslim woman arrested for refusing to take off her head scarf at a courthouse security checkpoint said Wednesday that she felt her human and civil rights were violated.
A judge ordered Lisa Valentine, 40, to serve 10 days in jail for contempt of court, said police in Douglasville, a city of about 20,000 people on Atlanta's west suburban outskirts.

HA! HA!......don’t mess with no judge, honey!
LOL. I think that statement is what's called "a long stretch."
Cair got her released right away!
Not your typical Muslim name.
“ATLANTA A Muslim woman arrested for refusing to take off her head scarf at a courthouse security checkpoint said Wednesday that she felt her human and civil rights were violated.”
No, Sweetie, if they had taken the scarf, hung you with it without a trial, THEN your HUMAN and CIVIL rights would have been violated.
Shut up and remove the silly scarf. Wear it at church where it belongs and just SHUT UP!
I hear ya, she had just moved from Connecticut recently, lucky them.
Particularly that one.
“Lisa Valentine, also known by her Islamic name, Miedah, 40, was arrested at the Douglasville Municipal Court for violating a court policy of no headgear.”

She needs to get over it.
People have to remove all kinds of things before entering a federal building.
What if a bald guy had to remove his hat? Would they be screaming descimination against bald people?
Wait...strike that. Who knows anymore...
God bless her, but I refuse to wear anything that will cover up my bangin’ hairdo and great earrings. AND is hot in the summer AND you can’t enjoy a day at a water park in. Girl, rip that thing off you head and show the world your beauty!
There was another thread on this. It appears that the contempt charge was for cursing at a bailiff who asked her to remove it, rather than for coming in with the scarf.
From another article: Frustrated at being prevented from entering the court, she reportedly uttered an expletive and sought to leave.
But the bailiff handcuffed her and took her before Judge Keith Rollins, who sentenced her to 10 days in jail.
I would say I have had maybe 20 encounters with Cops in my day, most of those in my wilder, younger days. One thing I did learn was that uttering expletives at them rarely improved my situation.
Only one person I know of is allowed to wear a mask...
Wherew does the Koran say anything about headscarves.
We question the centrality of headscarves to being Muslim.
Okay, I’m going to go out on a limb here, but I don’t see why she had to remove a headscarf, so long as her face was not obscured, and there was no photograph required (making her hair color, etc. relevant), what’s the big deal? I think the court rules are kind of sappy.
Now, as to the expletives directed towards an officer of the court, that’s really, really stupid on her part, and although I can’t make a definitive statement as to her intelligence, I’m thinking she’s not the brightest bulb in the pack.
After living in Kuwait and Bahrain for a few years, I learned that it is not a edict it is a choice.
If their convictions say wear one, that is great but if the laws of the land says you can not, then go with the laws of the land or face the music.
Basically it sucks to be her
Not the headscarf - b!tch needs the full burkha!
Heh. Yep, the Judge blew it on this one. She qualifies for the full “beekeeper” and the Judge violated Sec 12, P 4 of Georgia State Civil Code, also known as the, “Right not to have to look at that” clause.
