MEXICO CITY A U.S. anti-kidnapping expert was abducted by gunmen in northern Mexico last week, a sign of just how bold this nation's kidnapping gangs have become.
U.S. security consultant Felix Batista was in Saltillo in Coahuila state to offer advice on how to confront abductions for ransom when he himself was seized, local authorities said.
Unknown assailants grabbed him on Dec. 10, said Charlie LeBlanc, the president of the Houston, Texas-based security firm ASI Global LLC., where Batista is a consultant.
"We have notified the FBI and Mexican authorities, and they are working on the case," LeBlanc said Monday. "What we are doing is we're offering our support to the family and hoping for the best."
The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City said it would not comment on the case, and LeBlanc declined to say whether a ransom demand had been received.

Sometimes irony is just so ironic.
I hope he is released unharmed.

How embarrassing.
Prayers for him and for his family.
Anti-kidnapping expert going to Mexico....isn’t that kind of like painting a target on your behind and going to the rifle range?
I think ‘expert’ can now be removed.
Heck of an expert who can’t even watch his own back... I guess this would be the ultimate example of “do as I say, not as I do”...

Real experts know better than to involve themselves in the nitty gritty of their expertise area! Real experts play experts on TV!
Or teach at Harvard.... ;)
I mean, ahem, how terrible...
I don’t agree completely - he never said he was an expert on AVOIDING kidnapping. Now he’ll have first-hand kidnap-victim experience, which should make him an expert on “What to Expect When You’re Kidnapped” and “Chicken Soup for the Kidnapped Soul.”
And then he can go on Oprah and Dr. Phil.
STAY THE HELL OUT OF MEXICO. THERE IS NO GOOD ENOUGH REASON TO GO THERE. EVER.
I wouldn’t say that. If he survives this, his hourly rate is going to go way, way up.
Rule#1: Don’t go to an area where the probability of being kidnapped is high.
Must not be much of an expert.
The BIble says that pride goeth before a fall.
Seems to me like an inside player in the mexican government tagged this guy.
This sounds like a case for a cracker-jack negotiator.... Condoleeza Rice!
That said, we should demand this dude back alive or else...
