Greek Opposition Leader Papandreou Blames Government for Riots
Voice of America ^ | December 14, 2008 | Nathan Morley

Posted on 12/15/2008 7:58:11 AM PST by SunkenCiv

In a VOA interview, opposition leader George Papandreou deplored the violence. "The types of problem, which Greece is facing right now are such that one could have expected that there would be a reaction from society and particularly from the youth," said George Papandreou. "Obviously what we are all shocked about is the violence, the extent of violence - but the fact there is a deeper crisis where the youth feel a deepening sense of inequality, social inequalities, lack of possible employment, a sense of injustice - a sense of corruption at the highest levels of government - these things have all put fuel to the fires of rage of the youth in Greece." ...Papandreou, who leads the opposition Socialists, said the primary concern of the people of Greece now was the return of the rule of law... Papandreou, who has called for new elections, said his focus would be on restoring confidence in government.

"...islamism...."

Nope, nothing to do with the jihadist here. Its a domestic issue and those who are doing the bulk of the rioting are ethnic Greeks. Such demonstrations have been held on a regular bases across the country for almost two years now in opposition to the government's plan to amend Greece's constitution. Last year more then half the school year in Greece was lost because of riots, demonstrations and students taken over schools and unviresities. Greek anarchists, students, unionists and party activists because of public anger over government economic policy and reforms in the academic fields. On Thursday and Friday(12/4/08 & 12/5/08) the Nurses Unions in Greece went on strike, those strikes led to Saturday night's riots, those riots had the police out in force to stop them and it was during those riots that the kid was accidently killed by a police officer. This killing set off more riots 'in the name of the kid who was killed' said some, but in reality its over their discontent with the government trying to make economic and academic changes in the country, as well as hooligans taken advantage of the situation to riot for basically nothing. This is why you are seeing so many students, they are against the reforms that the Greek government wants to make in the universities. Unfortunately this kind of rioting is common thru out Europe thanks to their socialistic culture that is a breeding ground for anti-capitalist leftists, anarchists and hooligans, mostly youths and students are involved behind the riots and more of then not they come from wealthy familes. The kid who was killed went to one of the most expensive and private schools in Greece.

There isn’t any in Europe given its socialistic culture. These riots have nothing to do with the muzzies. Such riots are common through out Europe. The ones in Greese now are over the public discontent with the reforms the government wants to make in the country’s economic and academic sections.

One of the reasons Greece is in debt is because illegal immigrants from Albania have ransacked the country and the PC EU Police won’t let the Greeks kick their rear ends out.

The most unpleasant fact about Greece is that they have to deal with the Stupid Shiptars in the region.
