Barack Obama never renounced his U.S. citizenship. Also, as he was a minor when he moved to Indonesia, neither he nor his parents could have renounced it. Period. As far as U.S. law is concerned, Barack Obama never lost his U.S. citizenship even as he gained Indonesian citizenship. Indonesia’s laws on the matter simply don’t apply in this country.

And so while multiple lawsuits challenging his eligibility still have appeals left to be exhausted, the simple fact of the matter is that there is no credible evidence that Barack Obama is anything other than a U.S. citizen “natural born” in a Hawaiian hospital in 1961. As a result, none of the cases submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court is likely to be heard.

But will the quashing of the various legal challenges be enough to satisfy those that have bought into these unsupported theories?

If past conspiracy theories can be a guide, then “no.”

I was in Hawaii in '66, '68 and '70.

I didn't see him.

And I would have been looking, too.

But, sarcasm and cynicism aside, I must say that there are many, many mixed races in Hawaii, then and now, and I really don't think that he would, as a child, have stood out.

I'm not defending the POS, as I think he is the worst thing that could happen to the US, but I do have to apply logic and common sense to the situation.

I hear your common sense and agree to a point.

However, if I worked in any of those offices (especially the hospital or pediatricians) I would have been saying to myself, “wow, that mom or that kid was my patient.” If I was the neighbor or landlord, I would have certainly remembered. If I was a Hawaiin friend or classmate from UH, it would have not been hard to recall.

My understanding from reading the transcript of the interview is that it was done in English, Swahili, and Luo. Sarah Obama knows Luo and some Swahili, but not English from newspaper reports and that is what the transcript suggests.

A few years ago on some much different boards than FR, I was a lot younger, a lot better looking with a great car and a bunch of money. Didn't make it true then, and quoiting other people posts on a Internet site doesn't make that true now.

Have lawyers made money on this issue, sure, but look up the cases were Obama alone is the defendant and tell me how much cash has been expended there.

Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle is not only campaigning against Barack Obama—she’s insinuating he’s not even from there.
A few weeks ago, the governor of Hawaii, Linda Lingle, said, “Senator Obama likes to say he’s from Hawaii. But, the truth is, I’ve never met him in my life. He’s never called me on the phone. Ninety-five percent of the people in my state had never heard of him before he ran for president.”

Gov. Lingle scoffed at the notion that Obama had any strong links with Hawaii, claiming that he’d spent only “a few high school years” in Hawaii.

So where does that leave us? The burden of proof of qualifying... what does the constitution say? When does the President elect fail to qualify? Why would the 20th amendment writers focus on the PE failing to qualify rather than the individual voters having responsibility to prove he didn’t?

Look at the 20th amendment for a clue.
