--snip-- Thirty-two (32) other states have already called for a Con Con (allegedly to add a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution). 34 states are all that is required, and then Congress MUST convene a Convention.

Do we still have a constitution? Seems it dies a silent death long ago!

This would not be a good time for a ConCon.

A Constitutional Convention, when called, can completely re-write the Constitution, even if it was called only to address a narrow issue. With the dims in control, delegates to such a convention would be the Jesse jackson, Bwarney Fwank, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid types. In short: it would be the end of this Country as we know it.

I think this will happen. I think much of what Obama is planning requires this. Even the birth certificate issue plays into this -- "Oh? You're concerned about my status as a natural-born citizen? Well, why don't we straighten that out at the Convention??"

And the new wording for Second Amendment will be: "Guns are for hunting. For purposes of hunting, federal gun licenses and registration are required."

Well this is the first I’ve heard of this.

Interesting that as the communists take over our country we havw this happening at the same time.

My guess is we can kiss our freedom’s goodbye. The left will re-write our Constitution.

Good-bye 2nd amendment, good-bye 1st amendment.

The new one world government is lining up faster than even I thought it would.

And to think George W. Bush republican socialist helped with this final push. Must have to payback his communist masters with his boot licking ending.

My Rights are not “up for grabs”. Anyone trying to do any “grabbing” is in for a pretty bad shock.

ok - then what happens? Does each state then get to vote on the new constitution? What if a bunch of red states decide to reject the new one and the blue states all approve? Van we then write our own and go our separate ways? If so, then I am all for having a constitutional convention, the sooner the better.

There will be no re-write to the Constitution anytime soon.

1. People revere the document, in principle if not in actual text.

2. It’s not necessary; it’s not like it’s being followed anyway.

3. Any substantial change wouldn’t pass State muster, anyway.

4. The circus of a Con would destroy the Dem party in public opinion for a generation. Too risky.

I've always believed this country would see a military coup to save the Constitution someday.
I just never expected to see it in my lifetime.

I'm going to ask this one more time, and then leave the thread to wharrgarbl on its own:

Does ANYONE have ANY information from ANYWHERE else about whether we actually are two States away from a Federal Constitutional Convention?

Thanks in advance.

Keep in mind that a constitutional convention can only propose amendments, which then must be ratified by the states. It’s no more powerful than Congress in that regard.

Don't go into a panic prematurely.

While it only takes two thirds of the states to call for a constitutional convention, under Article V three fourths of the states (presently 38 of 50) is the minimum necessary to ratify.

Amazing how flippant the responses to this are here on FR. Obviously our public school system has sufficiently dumbed down our population beyond what even I thought was possible.

Millions upon millions of firearms and ammo, buried way back in the hills from sea to shining sea, will have the last word on ‘how’ or ‘if’ our Constitution is rewritten.
