Axelrod himself begged off Blagojevich’s first gubernatorial campaign because “I was concerned about whether he was ready for … governing.” Not so Obama and Emanuel; they both served as advisors, and they and Blago went on endorsing each other to the bitter end.

Update: Awesome. Let’s just drag this out as long as possible. Either we get the spectacle of the Illinois legislature impeaching him or we get the spectacle of Blago appointing The One’s successor while in jail. And based on the charges, he’s just stupid/nutty enough to do it.

Nov. 3 - so Blag has been wire tapped every prior to the election. Before he even knew that Obama would be president and his Senate seat vacated. Would Blag be making deals for a Senate seat he wasn’t sure would even be open?

I’m starting to think that the wire tap was for a totally different reason (Rezko?) and they got lucky and got Blag on this instead.

Ring Blag up on this, then go after him on Rezko or other things.

A couple of months before the election, it was reported that Fitz was looking into something and people thought it might be related to illegal fund raising. A couple of months before the election, Blag definitely wouldn’t be putting the Senate seat out for a bid, so something else was on the burner then.

Any thinking person has to obviously note the probability that the president-elect would have discussed who should fill his vacant senate seat with the governor who will make that decision. For him to insist otherwise would be suspicious.

I agree with you totally on your statement. But to make an issue out of that one statement by Obama today doesn't get anyone anywhere.

There's certainly other recorded comments, including the Axelrod video that ties him to Blago that should be focused on. But not todays answer to the question posed to him........
