Another terrorist attack could hit the United States in the next five years and North Texas could be a key target next time.
By 2013, the U.S. more likely than not could be hit by another deadly attack, this time using something possibly like anthrax, according to the new report, World at Risk.
And some fear that North Texas, with its population, sports and entertainment venues and businesses not to mention the fact that President George W. Bush is moving back here after he leaves office in January could be a target next time.
Everybody should be concerned, said Danny Defenbaugh, a former special agent in charge for the FBI in North Texas. In Dallas-Fort Worth, this is the Metroplex. That should be reason for concern.
Officials released the report by the Commission on the Prevention of WMD Proliferation and Terrorism not to scare Americans but to point out that the government isnt doing enough to

Okay, there’s that, but if they blew it up, we’d just rebuild it. We’ve done it before. :P
Oh great..... I work in North Dallas and live in a suburb 30 mi. NW of Dallas.
I’ve always thought that Houston and vicinity would be a more preferred target givien the fact of it’s higher population, it adjacent ot a port, and the oil facilities in the immediate area....
We have the First Satanic Church in SF.
I Know folks in Austin are po’ed at TTech for beating them but attacking Lubbock? That’s just ridiculous!
LOL!
I doubt North Texas is going to be a target for terrorist WMDs. It’s just not a good use of resources.
Houston would be a good target, but better not target a refinery... refineries tend to explode on their own for no externally apparent reason, so bombing one would not do anything that doesn’t happen about once every 6-18 months anyway.
The Ft. Worth Dallas Metroplex has lots of people. I don’t know if it would be a target or not, but, with 6.1 million people in the metro area it is the 4th largest metropolitan area in the US.
I think it might possibly be a symbolic target, simply because it’s Texas (and you know how Texans are).
I don’t see DFW as a target, except for possible WMDs. A Mumbai-style attack here would result in dead terrorists in no time. We’re armed.
its sad that we both know that from a movie don’t you agree?
I agree, Houston would seem more likely, but whose to say.
But it has a Bowie knife!
I thought Dallas was in East Texas, isn’t North Texas the Panhandle area?
A Mumbai style attack might not even make the news due to CCW holders nailing the jihadis first.
It’s very easy to understand my friend: 2 targets
(1) Neiman Marcus
(2) Nordstroms
The Great Satans of Western Shopping
I’ve thought the very same thing for some time now, SF represents everything Islam hates about our society...

A NATION CHALLENGED: THE INVESTIGATION; Officials Say 2 More Jets May Have Been in the Plot
By DAVID JOHNSTON and JAMES RISEN (NYT) 1485 words
WASHINGTON, Sept. 18 — Federal authorities said today that they were investigating the possibility that terrorists might have plotted to commandeer two more commercial flights on the day that four planes were hijacked and used in attacks on New York and the Pentagon.
Law enforcement officials said they were taking the possibility of other hijack targets seriously, based on information from several sources, including citizens’ tips and information from cooperating witnesses.
One flight under investigation is American Airlines Flight 43, which left Newark International Airport about 8:10 a.m. bound for Los Angeles; it made an emergency landing in Cincinnati after the government ordered all flights grounded.
The other flight is American Airlines Flight 1729 from Newark to San Antonio via Dallas that was scheduled to depart at 8:50 a.m. and was later forced to land at St. Louis.
Attorney General John Ashcroft acknowledged that the authorities were investigating whether other aircraft besides the four might have been targeted. But, Mr. Ashcroft added, ‘’we are not able at this time to confirm that.’’

No, the Panhandle area is the Panhandle Area.
The Dallas area is called North Central Texas or North Texas. East Texas starts about 50 miles east of here.
Those turned out to not have any terrs on board.
Atlanta is also a hub city and it’s almost as bad. :P
