What's with Ben Stein, anyway? He's been acting a bit goofy for a while now, but what he said yesterday makes me wonder if he's lost it.
Michael Medved had Stein on his show yesterday. Ben made several pronouncements:
-- He supports the bailout. Moreover, he would bail out states if needed.
-- He was vehemently opposed to the Sarah Palin pick for VP. I checked out a past YouTube video where he was quite vitriolic about it.
-- He's for taxing the rich at a higher rate. OK. I already knew about this. But, WTFF???
No. I don't think he supported Obama in the election At least I hope not.
He’s gone to the dark side.
WHY? ITS TRUE!
Their opponents' tendency to immediately resort to insults makes the ID folks look alot more even mannered as well.
ID and evolution both have gaping holes in them. My issue with both is that both sides feel like it is an all or nothing proposition, that no compromise is possible in science.
Once you start shutting out other theories or idea then your science is dead.
I watched Steins movie Expelled, it was thought provoking at points but you could tell he had the fervor of a “True Believer” and his interviewees on the other side were wacky as hell as well.
That being said, I have felt for a long while that old Ben was indeed his own man and doesnt really subscribe to either side of the political spectrum.. And I can respect that.
There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension
as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle-ground between
light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the
pit of man’s fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of
imagination. It is an area we call the “Twilight Zone”.
Nah He went to Gold in June-July when things started looking like ZERO had conned his way onto the ballot!:-)
Ben Stein is a Nixon conservative. In other words, he’s a liberal.
...says the guy who can’t prove a damned thing with regard to a a solid irrefutable lineage of omeba to Man.
I am always entertained by the pseudo scientists out there who think they have the final word on anything.
Yes, there are questions that I have concerning both creation and evolution. Neither can prove it’s major points. At least the folks who believe in creation understand what faith is. Those who support evolution deny that they must indulge in it to believe their pipe dream.
Now, perhaps you explain how some contemporary beliefs accepted by the scientific community today, are diametrically opposed to beliefs held even twenty years ago. There are plenty out there, and much more if you increase that time frame to eighty years. And in another twenty, theories we have today will also be turned on their heads.
Evolution is a theory. The end. Other theories deserve equal billing.
Maybe he’s made anough money off the conservatives and has decided to switch because he can make money off the lefties now. I have noticed several are going that route.
What cheap cowards.
What happened to his son, who was addicted to a video game and had to be sent away to school? How old is he now?
“There is no evidence for creationism and anyone who thinks the world is 7000 years old”
yes there is. The Word of G-d is the best evidence you can get.
I agree. Most everyone I know believes in evolution. We just keep it in perspective.
Actually, I think a lot more people on the creationism side buy into evolution as a concept. We see clear change in species due to the selection processes, or as a result of geographical or climate changes. They just don’t see it as the origin of man.
On the other hand, evolutionists cannot accept creationism on any level.
I thought the same thing last time I saw him on TV- I thought he was a conservstive
Hes in full panic mode. His investments have gone south.
Either that or he's a fair-weather conservative, and now that a severe economic bubble has burst, he's jumped ship to join the FDR types.
With that movie he has joined the Michael Moore school of film making.
. . . who feels guilty and hasn't thought of charity.
