The recount has swung back and forth between the two men, with batches of uncounted ballots being discovered here and there as well as clerical errors changing the totals.
With the recount virtually complete on Friday, Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie said Coleman led Franken by 787 votes. Local newspapers put Coleman's margin at about 200 votes, tallying ballots that had previously been challenged.

This is the sort of thing they will HAVE to do if they are to have a chance in hell of surviving beyond this election. Glad to see that Coleman might prevail in this contest.
Good deal on Coleman beating the commie class clown, MSM is crap these days ....Today I read OJ got 6 , 15 and 33 years . As well as this MSM fiasco. Been a 22 vote 200 vote and now 787 ?
Man I hate the MSM and their disinformational agenda driven BS !
Just my opinion of course....
I watched the sentencing and I believe it was 16 years with parole possible after 5.
Oh yeah I finally got the number right but after seeing a gazillion different versions.....an now it seems the story is off the front pages altogether.....:o)
Good news on this Franken whuppin.....
It looks promising.
I expect more shenanigans from the venal Smalley. He and his goons have no conscience.
This is so utterly bogus. I've worked as an election judge in Minnesota in four elections and three precincts. The ONLY way there can BE uncounted ballots to be "discovered" is if they are arranged in advance to be "discovered" in the event of a close election.
"Discovered" uncounted ballots should NEVER be counted for any reason. They are outside the process that makes them valid, and are so every step of the way.
As to asigning them to specific "disenfranchised" voters, again, that's impossible as properly handled ballots are absolutely anonymous, even absentee ballots.
Yes they will and they will have to do another thing. Learn how to hold press conferences denouncing liberal Democrats and their allies. Republicans need to run down the Democrat brand. I’ve never understood the incapability of the GOP to call the Democrats to the mat effectively for being not just anti-war but anti-troops, not just being pro helping the poor but anti-business which makes more people poor, not just being pro environment but anti humanity, I could go on the rabid liberalism is on display every time the ACLU tries to take down a cross or a nativity scene yet does the GOP call the group out for what it is which is a front group for the Democrat party liberals? No instead they fell into the mode of taking a beating. George Bush took a beating and look at where it left him and his administration. He should have been able to use 9-11 to destory the left instead he has made them stronger than they have ever been.
*Just my opinion of course....*
Well, your opinion is right on.
Excellent! Well said, and right on the money. Speaking of money, GOP cowardice caused me to close my checkbook over two years ago. I've been throwing away unopened solicitations from every Republican group under the sun - - about two per week - - since then. I was surprised to still get my White House Christmas card earlier this week.
thanks..... I can understand if it was three days of stories as the news changes yet. This is getting to the point ya can only come to a place like FR to get the pros, the cons , the facts and the rumors spelled out clear for the readers.
Thankful for FR....donate if ya can !
Stay safe Troop !
I don’t put anything past them but they no longer have what they hoped to get in their sights which was a 60 vote majority. Truthfully I don’t think Harry Reid or the Democrat Senate wants that clown. Sure they would’ve taken him but now it really doesn’t matter. The GOP and McCain should actively work to sway Lieberman. Also they should target the few conservative Democrat members to use them as a wedge. Also they should put pressure on liberal Senators who serve in conservative states. The least it can do is weaken them in the eyes of their electorate. We need to start having a long term view, every day is election day and every liberal a walking target. Hit them ceaselessly, generate negative press about them, attack them.
Also use one simple mantra during this economic crisis. Hasn’t government spent enough already? Isn’t time to stop the bleeding? Put the government on trial and all its programs. This time more than any other people are receptive to the idea that enough is enough and it is time to take the pocket book away from the congress and the President. We need to draft a constitutional ammendment limiting taxation and spending by government officials and reforming the tax code permanently. Even if it goes no where it can set the tone. The public doesn’t seriously think the government spending trillions of more dollars is going to fix the current economic problems. People expect to sacrifice and most of those I know would rather get the pain over and done with rather than dragging it out trying to save the butts of the legions of irresponsible in government, in business, and among a portion of the citizenry who have behaved irresponsibly.
Enough is enough. Susan Powter had it right “Stop the Insanity!”
We’ve become a banana republic, where elections don’t depend on the vote, they depend on the biased courts.
Thank you Al Gore, you schmuck (I hope you read FR.)
By the way, when is the Nobel society going to rescind your Nobel Prize...global warming has been proven false.
In the past, it was almost impossible for a Pubbie to get the air time to “run down the democrat brand” because the LSM would not air it. Now, the internet allows Pubbies to put such press conferences and other content on a medium that circumvents the LSM. Pubbies need to master the internet and craft well-thought viral videos.
Why are we getting these daily reports of Franken by 20, by 4 etc.?
It is just horrible. It is like going hunting and having a field full of deer and just being unable to aim and fire. I get sick sometimes. I like people like Sean Hannity and Rush but even they don’t seem to know how to really go on the attack anymore. Limbaugh used to be highly effective at wrapping and packing Democrats now he seems more interested in golf. Seldom do we have the hard hitting piercing parody and satire that made him great.
All I know is I see the party spending millions of dollars in highly ineffective ways. This election I signed up for the Obama and Clinton campaigns email so that I would know what they were up to. I got at least 4 times as many emails from the Obama campaign than McCain’s. Some weeks I got more emails from the defunct Clinton campaign trying to collect money to pay down her campaign debt. I didn’t get one call about volunteering even after signing up for the McCain campaign. I did get email responses after emailing people directly. I spent a lot of time going door to door but not because the campaign was aggressive at getting me to do it. The Obama folks called me once a week trying to get me to go door to door for them. I’ll tell you how bad it was. I had me and my kids one Saturday, that is all. I took them door to door with my little guys in a stroller. The Obama campaign had dozens of people show up to volunteer in an area where they had no chance of doing very well but in the end they did well enough.
I don’t even believe that giving the national party money is the right idea. I think we need to invest our money in independent PACs. We really need separate organizations that will do the job our national party is not doing. We didn’t even compete in the Senate races and the sad thing is that they never even tried. I think I got one email from the Senatorial committee after donating. If you can’t even leverage your allies how in the hell can you defeat an enemy?
