From ape to man via genetic meltdown: a theory in crisis (nature resists Evo explanations!)

I write this review with very mixed feelings. On the one hand, for the first time some key data are being divulged which we need to include in our models, and which honest thinkers who question evolutionist theory need to digest. But I have a problem. In the Prologue professor Sanford wrote, ‘I knew I would be at odds with the most “sacred cow” of modern academia. Among other things, it might even result in my expulsion from the academic world.’ I know John personally and treasure his intelligence and integrity. In further drawing attention to his book, I may be contributing to having his ties to academia severed, a world to which he has such strong emotional ties and to which he has made so many contributions. I know academics and journalists who have already lost their jobs for questioning Darwinian theory.

He is not exaggerating. I myself have also had my experiences in this matter.

‘I started to realize (again with trepidation), that I might be offending a lot of people’s religion,’ he confides early on. How correct he is. I recently discussed the issue of life’s origins with a dear friend I’ve worked together with for years. He brought up three arguments contra creation which I easily answered on strictly scientific terms. Suddenly he leaped to his feet. Trembling with rage he pointed a finger at me, and yelled that what I was doing was dangerous! The fundamentalists in America are dangerous! They are fighting against tolerance! They refuse to accept science! They are irrational and have no facts!...

Liberals are the least likely to be open to Science. They stick to one fact and cover too much ground with it. Al Gore says global warming is proved and the argument is over. This puts out of the scientific method because the last rule of science is to reevaluate and look at other evidence. Every time I discuss something with a liberal they stick to their own limited argument and will not listen to other facts and basically say they do not believe anything out of their facts.

“Were through being cool
Eliminate the ninnies and the twits
Going to bang some heads
Going to beat some butts
Time to show those evil spuds whats what
If you live in a small town
You might meet a dozen or two
Young alien types who step out
And dare to declare
Spank the pank who try to drive you nuts
Time to clean some house
Be a man or a mouse
Waste those who make it tuff to get around
If you live in a big place
Many factions underground
Chase down mister hinky dink
So no trace can be found
Put the tape on erase
Rearrange a face
We always liked picasso anyway
Mash em”

Oops, sorry. I just did a Devo hijack, quite possibly a first on this board. :-)

Very interesting. I'm an open-minded "evo" and find this stuff fascinating.

I think the discussion and debate on this subject is healthy and certainly in keeping with the way western science is supposed to operate. It's when people on either side start throwing out the ad hominems and trying to stifle debate that I get annoyed.

The point is, you would logically explain how FACTS about Biology support the theory of evolution.

Me too. I am a confirmed YEC, but I am the first to admit that there is a lot to be learned between people who manage to respectfully disagree.

Don't waste your time with Evos. They are scholarly fools. If you haven't watched Ben Stein's "Expelled-No intelligence allowed", you should. It's hilarious. The silliness of Evos is distilled down to it's essence when Ben asks Richard Dawkins, one of the world's prominent Darwinian scientists, the simple question... "So, how did life begin?". Dawkins' reply is classic. It starts with the statement "Well Ben, we really don't know, but it's theorized that.......". His tortured explanation continues to go downhill from there.

Yup. They really don't know how the inanimate became animate, but they sure know how it didn't. Amazing.

I know academics and journalists who have already lost their jobs for questioning Darwinian theory.

It is a valid litmus test for any scientist. If you deny evolution by invoking the supernatural, you are not a scientist. Shooo. Be gone with you.

(Now, tongue in cheek folks.) If someone wants to assert that they’re a kind of an ape, I usually don’t argue with them. I usually ask them to estimate how much monkey blood they have in their veins and how much came from which side of their family. It’s also fun to run down a list of co-workers or neighbors or in-laws and discuss the amount of monkey each one contains.
