The justices of the U.S. Supreme Court will tomorrow discuss whether or not it should take up the case of Leo C. Donofrio, Applicant, v. Nina Mitchell Wells, New Jersey Secretary of State, a case that challenges the citizenship of President-elect Obama.
After the Justices meet -- and assuredly decline to hear the matter -- the anti-Obama activists supporting the case will hold a vigil near the steps of the highest Court in the land.
The theory -- which is without evidence -- is that Mr. Obama's birth certificate is faked, and that he was not born in Hawaii but rather Kenya, making him ineligible for the presidency. (Or, alternately, that the birth certificate proves only that Mr. Obama was born at some point, not that he was born in Hawaii.)
The Obama campaign says that's nonsense, that he was born in Hawaii, has a birth certificate, and is a natural born U.S. citizen. Period.
As Hawaii's Pacific Business News reported in October: "The director of Hawaii’s Department of Health confirmed on Friday what Barack Obama has been saying all along: the presidential candidate was born in Honolulu. 'There have been numerous requests for Sen. Barack Hussein Obama’s official birth certificate,' said Chiyome Fukino. 'State law prohibits the release of a certified birth certificate to persons who do not have a tangible interest in the vital record.' Citing her statutory authority to oversee and maintain Hawaii’s vital records, Fukino said she has 'personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures. No state official, including Gov. Linda Lingle, has ever instructed that this vital record be handled in a manner different from any other vital record in the possession of the State

Where is the exact statement from this person? I don't recall ever seeing a press release from anyone in Hawaii with any authority to rule on these matters. If there is such a statement, then I missed it. All I've seen is paraphrase.

Hmm...I don’t know, SCOTUS judges are as curious as anyone else, I don’t know of a request of clarification that could be made by the SCOTUS to the HDR...
If one exists, it would not surprise me to see it issued, after all the controversy at law revolves around a public document that should have been released to anyone who has standing to ask, this is really just a boring public records case at it’s core.
After Obama says he’ll give the certificate to “put this nonsense to rest” the “original” is going be destroyed or stolen....so they’ll have to print a “new copy” which will excuse its newness........
This guy has no idea what this case is all about.

Notice that the official does not actually say that Obama was born in Hawaii. Just that she has seen his “Hawaiian Birth Certificate,” which is manifestly not the same thing.
If you’re born to a citizen, you’re a “natural born citizen” whether the venue is Hawaii, Kenya, or Mars. This whole thing is nonsense.
The problem there is that all the government official says is that they have his birth certificate on record. They specifically avoid saying that the birth certificate shows he was born in Hawaii.
Steve you have been here long enough to have read many times the laws in 1961 for being natural born if only one parent was a citizen and you were born out of the country. His mother didn’t meet that requirement. Argue another point but that one is covered!
I know that, and the distinction is crystal clear.
But are the Supremes not going to find a way to make this disappear, anyway?
I hope they do the right thing by the Constitution, but I have my doubts.

That’s the last thing I remember, then all the paraphrased statements by newspapers afraid they might be shut down by the new Marxist regime. Of course that statement was made around the time of the BO family vacation in HI, or the pending death of the grandmother which happened, coincidentially (??) the day before the election. Nothing good for the American people came of those two off-limits trips to HI. It smells of rotted fish. Nobody is connecting those dots, as I can tell. I would do it, but its above my pay grade.

And we don’t even have that. The words from the official in Hawaii are parsed in such a way in that they make no such claim.
Doesn’t say he was born in HI or anything except they have a copy. They would have to have a copy to issue a COLB I would think. How would they know a child was born live if there was no birth certificate or some documentation.
