wow—I have posted 3 responses over there and they are disappearing as fast as I post them, not from censorship, just from the website being overloaded, and only being able to post some many at any one time.

Not only is Jake a jerk, but he misses one of the most important parts of the argument. That is, that Obama probably lost his citizenship when he was adopted in Indonesia.

No, he didn't. US law is explicit that nothing a parent does can cause a child to lose their US citizenship. Obama would have had to go into a US consulate, convince the consular official he knew what he was doing and its implications, and then swear an oath of renunciation. And he would have had to do this before the age of ten, when he left Indonesia.

Bears repeating, so I don’t have to go searching for it later on when I intend to use it.

“Let me also say that I remain distressed that the White House during this confirmation process, which overall went smoothly, failed to provide critical documents as part of the record that could have provided us with a better basis to make our judgment with respect to the nomination. This White House continues to stymie efforts on the part of the Senate to do its job. I hope with the next nominee who comes up for the Supreme Court that the White House recognizes that in fact it is its duty not just to the Senate but to the American people to make sure we can thoroughly and adequately evaluate the record of every single nominee who comes before us.”

Remarks of Senator Barack Obama on the Confirmation of Judge John Roberts

We only ask the same.

“there wouldn’t be time to amend the Constitution.”

yes there is time to amend the Constitution, legislatively. The legislature has the power to establish the number of supreme court justices. Expand it by 6, all super liberals with an agenda. declare the Constitution and archaic document and is not relevant to today's society.
Legislature and Executive can then do whatever it wants.

Thank God Saxbey won and chambers is winning.

PS: Isn't it amazing how the results are so suddenly GOP favorable without massive voter fraud by Acorn? Obama stoled the election.

I’m just imagining that the unrest would be somewhere along the lines of the riots in the 60’s, but perhaps worse. We’ve never gotten this far with an African American presidential nominee so it’s kind of hard to say what might happen or how long it will last.

As far as constitutionality, it’s better to not give him a pass for both the short or long term, and something needs to be done to ensure we never get this far with someone who has never produced official citizenship documents ever again.

There is strong evidence the guy is at least politically and emotionally not really a US citizen, period.

I am not going to go there, but I will limit my comments to the legal issues at hand in this case, as I understand them.

That being the SOS of NJ did not do her job. If this is true SCOTUS should take the case. That does not mean that OBH has to show that he is a US Citizen. He could chose to allow himself to be DQ'd from the NJ ballot.

Now wouldn't that be interesting?

“If you’re born to a citizen, you’re a “natural born citizen” whether the venue is Hawaii, Kenya, or Mars.”

Don’t give up your day job because a Constitutional scholar you are not. Do some research on the subject pal because you’re missing some key components of the case.

“the pending death of the grandmother”

He probably had her euthanized (sp?)to keep her from ever testifying about his country of birth. Lessons learned from the Clintons

That may be the law now, but I don’t believe it was when he was adopted. Neither the US nor Indonesia allow dual citizenship, and one cannot go to school in Indonesia without being a citizen. If this is the case, he very well could have lost his citizenship, and would be considered a naturalized citizen upon regaining it, if he or his mother ever bothered with the formalities. No one has been able to find a record of this happening.

It’s too bad, because Jake Tapper was pretty objective during the campaign. I guess this guy’s soon-to-be obsolete job is far more important than informing the American people.

All this could be settled if Hussein produced his birth certificate. Why does he refuse to do so?

This cannot be said enough times. It is THE central question here.

I do not like the fact that Mr. Obama was elected to be POTUS, but I'm resigned to accepting that...IF HE IS, IN FACT, CONSTITUTIONALLY ELIGIBLE TO HOLD THE OFFICE.

This is SOOOO simple: BHO authorizes the release of the vault copy of his long form birth certificate to anyone who wants it for a period of 1 week or 1 month. END OF STORY. The simple fact that BHO refuses to release it and is, in fact, fighting it to the tune of many hundreds of thousands of dollars, speaks volumes.

MR. OBAMA, TEAR DOWN THIS WALL!

A coupe of thoughts:

1. When Jake uses words like “and assuredly decline”, “Anti-Obama Fringe”, “which is without evidence”, “quoting: that’s nonsense”, “eccentric...erstwhile” “references to 9/11 conspiracy theoriers as a means to discredit” and “assorted other INTERESTING characters”...it’s very hard to take him seriously as a purported OBJECTIVE journalist. He sounds like a shill. More so he sounds like a synchophant who is either in a Bromance with Obama or just plain gay. He comes off a lot like some Ernst Rohm character in slavish devotion to moving Obama’s image forward. I wonder if he realizes how much credibility he has lost over these months. I wonder if he realizes that we are already counting the days to that Manhattan Dinner Party 15 years from now when he finally admits how he was used and suckered in and how he feels partly responsible for all that happened in those Obama years.

...Neither the US nor Indonesia allow dual citizenship...

What?? I have no idea about Indonesia, but there are tens of millions of legal US citizens holding citizenship with another country. I’m not sure where this fallacy started, but it’s oft repeated here.

My mother immigrated here in 1961 and became a citizen in the early 70’s. She is still an Italian citizen and holds an Italian passport as well as a US passport. I even had an Italian (as well as US) passpport until the the age of 17 or so.

Hard to blame Jake when even so called conservatives like Medved are dismissing it out of hand as well, via the same ignorance.

Uh, nope. You need to read the law.
