The future of a media dominated by left-leaning professionals seems secure. At least, it is if my experience addressing an Ithaca College course today is any indication. Professor Wenmouth Williams, Jr. kindly me invited in to address two sections in his course on media and politics at Ithaca College's Park School of Communications.
Prof. Williamswho identified himself as a registered Demcouldn't have been nicer or more gracious, and gave me absolute free rein. After I spent a few minutes at the beginning of each section discussing NewsBusters and related subjects and offering my general take on the MSM and the elections, the students and I spent the rest of the hour exchanging ideas and generally talking politics.

Surprise! No ‘out’ Republicans among college media students I met with today. Ping to Today show list.

Well, increasingly, they won’t be “the” media but just a part of the media.
People will increasingly PULL their media sources selectively ala the Internet, versus having it PUSHED to them via just a few MegaOutlets of the old LeftMedia.
We’re talking about Ithaca, NY, City of Evil. I’m pretty sure there are NO ‘Pubbies in that city.
go into a communications class and its mostly young liberal bisexual women. Part of the reason I enjoyed the few I took (even though I got crappy grades for not agreeing with the teacher)
Great post glgb. Interesting? Yes. Surprising? No.
Republicans are becoming a secret society in many areas. Our daughter lived in NYC for about 5 years, moving back to the South in 2007.
She thought it funny that conservatives, like her, were almost hidden among the liberals. Luckily she met a conservative (Lehigh grad, Jersey born and raised) and they were happily married.
They live and work in the Atlanta area. Love it too.
Well, there is me! I live in Ithaca. Great place in many ways.
Thanks, Chuck. I can’t say I was surprised in theory. But being there, and seeing that not ONE student identified himself as a Republican or McCain supporter was still pretty mind-boggling.
Yes, he is relieved you outed yourself and belives that you will never work for a major newspaper or station (I hope he is wrong on this); but is willing to let you speak on a closed campus for free. It's good for him to keep up appearances of his kind and unbiased - albeit condescending - nature.
Yep, let’s make sure “journalism” is a dead end career choice, like “art history”.
Don’t consume any MSM.
With all of the cutbacks going on in the MSM, it was good of you to help educate the future unemployed of their generation. I wish you had told them to pursue another line of work, but to no avail!
“Dont consume any MSM.”

Yep.
For years it has been nothing but old movies, selected vintage dramas and sitcoms, EWTN, non-propagandizing educational shows, and sports in which the players don’t behave like screeching jungle baboons showing off their technicolor behinds.

It is easier to be a liberal when one is younger as usually Daddy, Mommy, and or the gubermint is paying most of their bills. Taxes? “ What is that? Doesn’t impact me.” That should be their rebel yell.
We need diversity in journalism, so affirmative action scholarships for conservative journalism students are needed TO RIGHT THIS WRONG.

Journalism is a shrinking field. Why do you want conservatives to study in a field where there will not be jobs?Journalism, far from being objective, has a dog in the hunt when it comes to which party looks good and which looks bad - for the simple reason that "liberals" are professional complainers just like "objective journalists" are, and they have a symbiotic relationship, deny it tho they may. So it is not by any means an accident that journalists are sympathetic to "liberals" and hostile to "conservatives."
