Barack Obama to buy rare £20,000 gold ring for his wife.
The ring is made of rhodium - the world's most expensive metal --encrusted with diamonds. It is being hastily made by Italian designer Giovanni Bosco in time for January's inauguration ceremony.
Only about 25 tons of rhodium are mined each year, mostly in South Africa, and as a result its price is typically around £5,000 an ounce.

Michelle tells poor women in Chicago to forego the corporate world and volunteer in the community instead - these people are hypocrites! Annie, Madrid, 30/11/2008
A man of the people - NOT. Ostentatious displays of wealth at a time of recession. ken, london england, 30/11/2008
Fiddling whilst Rome is burning, what a joke. Robert, Sumter USA, 30/11/2008
Americans are losing their savings, their jobs, and their homes. Many can't afford the cost of nutritous food for their families, but Obama can shuck out $20K for a bracelett - that's the way to show "change" and "good for the common man" in America. Chi, London,+UK, 30/11/2008
He's a man of the people all right - a multi millionaire that holds the lower classes in contempt, whilst sticking his wealth in their faces with outrageous purchases. Now theres change you can believe in! Mark, Melbourne, 1/12/2008
He relied on the goodwill of the American People to be elected (ie people used their own funds) so he should be setting an example to the rest of the Americans telling them to save money during the hard times up until the economic situation begins to improve. Let us hope that he does not turn out to be similar to vast majority of other African leaders who happen to be in the 'game' for the sake of personal financial gains nil, London UK, 1/12/2008

Can find the rarest metal on earth but can’t find his Birth Certificate?
Barack Hussein can’t find his birf certificate. But strangely it looks like Michelle may have found the Larry Sinclair video tape.
Proverbs 11:22
I sure wish I were a quasi-black guy! As a white guy my bling
is limited to a wristwatch and wedding ring.
They seem like the dictionary definition of useless, yet they see fit to tell the rest of us how to live.
I have a feeling people are going to hate their guts before too long.
It’s not really THAT extravagant. When my wife and I married 24 years ago, we bought simple gold bands, since we were “po folks” and didn’t believe in the nonsense about going into debt for weddings and the like. For our 10th anniversary, I bought her a 1ct. solitaire. For our 20th anniversary, I bought a 3 carat wrap for the solitaire, and the total appraised value for insurance is $18K.
Michelleda. Michell—da, ma belle-da.
Exactly.
The Pres with Bling!! (I originally wrote “Duh Prez wit Bling!” but thought that that may appear racist, and we must be oh-so-very-careful not to say ANYthing that could be construed as racist, though it’s perfectly all right to ridicule and insult white presidents.)p
I’m surprised it’s not made of Kryptonite.
my bling consists of brass, blued steel, and brushed aluminum.
Well done, Snurple!
Prov. 11:22--"As a ring of gold in a swine's snout, so is a beutiful woman who lacks discretion."
Yeah, you can put lipstick on a pig, but in the end, it's still a pig. Right, Barry?
“Do you have any idea how many STUPID people bought his TWO autobiographies??? “
Duh! My dumb! Suckers. They bought Bill Ayers books!
“Where does Obama get such monies? So far he has been a Community Organizer at $13,000/year, a state senator for probably $50,000/year and a US Senator at around $170,000/year.”
Money he got from the books that he didn’t write.
I guess not ALL of us have to make “sacrifices.”
It's even inscribed...
Ash nazg durbatulûk,
ash nazg gimbatul,
ash nazg thrakatulûk,
agh burzum-ishi krimpatul.
One Ring to rule them all,
One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.
Was that a ring or bling?

But looking at them in this picture, well, they look too nice, too innocent. Way too nice to take on the viciousness of today's world. Heck, Bush had a hard time of it even with his father to offer experienced advice. If the Obamas thought that the election process was hard, they are in for much more than they ever imagined. |
Hope he finds time around his busy holliday shopping schedule to buy brother George a Christmas card. It’s the thought that counts no need for him to go buy him a new hut with basic amenities or anything.
Yep, except, his is 30K, made of rarest material on earth, AND, he thinks it’s good to spread the wealth around. It’s hypocrisy at its worst.
You don’t go around telling people about how they should give up their hard earned money in the cause of fairness, do you ?
Very good - thanks.
