It’s not really THAT extravagant. When my wife and I married 24 years ago, we bought simple gold bands, since we were “po folks” and didn’t believe in the nonsense about going into debt for weddings and the like. For our 10th anniversary, I bought her a 1ct. solitaire. For our 20th anniversary, I bought a 3 carat wrap for the solitaire, and the total appraised value for insurance is $18K.
Yep, except, his is 30K, made of rarest material on earth, AND, he thinks it’s good to spread the wealth around. It’s hypocrisy at its worst.
