The FGCU administration is banning all holiday decorations in common areas on campus. There will be no lights, no wreaths, and no decorative signs - just business as usual. We found out why the university made the potentially controversial decision.
Officials with the university say the holiday "Giving Tree" in Griffin Hall is being replaced by a bulletin board called the "Giving Garden".

How about some students just issue a “eff off” calling of their bluff?
We already won!
The Death Spiral of Christmas continues. But not for me.
If enough parents yanked their kids out of the university and didn’t pay the spring tuition bill, I bet they’d change their policy so fast it would make Santa Clause look like a turtle.
Guerrilla Christmas?
I read thru the whole article and not once did the reporter say what ‘FGCU’ stood for. I had to Google to find the name of the school.
We have the internet. Write the damn article as if people from all over the country (and sometimes the world) will read it, because they will.
When I go back to work next week (Public School Employee in CA) I will be wearing my “I celebrate Christmas” button until we break for Christmas, just as I did last year.
My grandfather would never have a Christmas tree in his house because he had read about the pagans bringing in evergreen trees and boughs into their houses and worshipping them (in the Bible, Old Testament).
No problem, so long as they don’t ban FEDERAL Holiday decorations.
Christmas is a Federal Holiday.
They do have students that have Federally backed student loans.
That’s the rule they use to impose quotas, and it should work both ways.
..just wait; till they, propose celebrating the birthdays of, Great Marxists of All Time, V. Lenin (6+ mil. deaths), Joseph Stalin (42+ mil. deaths), Mao-tse (100+ mil. deaths), Fidel Castro (3+ deaths), Pol Pot (3+ mil. deaths) and Barack Hussein "Red Messiah" Obambi (honorable mention - ??? mil. deaths)....
I would like to think the name I made up was better!
Perhaps he prefers to observe Kwanzaa
You know, it’s about time to effing stop these clowns.
We can win this thing people, all we need is the right Christmas music...
