PAC creates ads thanking Gov. Palin

Monday, November 24, 2008

ANCHORAGE, Alaska-- A national conservative political action committee is using this week of Thanksgiving to send Gov. Palin a thankful message.

The TV ad thanks the governor for her "grace and dignity she showed even when some tried to smear and destroy her."

The political action committee called Our Country Deserves Better, paid for the ads, which will begin to air Tuesday in Alaska.

The group represents conservatives and officials say the ads are a way to thank Palin for her service during the campaign.

"Despite the vicious and personal attacks that she was subjected to by the national media and political pundits that she connected with, millions of Americans are grateful for her willingness to stand up and leave the confines of Alaska to take on the rigors of a national campaign and represent so many people so well," organization member Sal Russo said.

Some view the ads as the first to hit the air in the 2012 race for president.

A spokesman for Gov. Palin says she was not aware of the ads and hasn't seen them.

The spokesman says the governor appreciates the support but is now focused on state business.

Obama is already running for a second term as President, why not have Sarah be the Conservative challenger?

Bear shot, killed in Old Harbor

Associated Press - November 25, 2008 8:14 PM ET

OLD HARBOR, Alaska (AP) - A 7-foot sow brown bear has been shot and killed in Old Harbor, on the southeast coast of Kodiak Island.

An employee of Kodiak Sportsman's Lodge killed the bear Sunday after it had broken into a game cleaning and storage area.

Officials say the bear had twice previously torn off the door to the storage area and hauled away deer meet.

Just an interesting look into some of the things that happen up in Alaska.

Palin's Fans and Foes Keep Her in the Spotlight: RIGHT, LEFT: Conservative Group to Air Commercials; Opponents Call for Answers.

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 12:00 PM

(Source: Anchorage Daily News)By Kyle Hopkins, Anchorage Daily News, Alaska

Nov. 25--A California-based conservative group that hammered Democratic Sen. Barack Obama during the presidential election is launching a string of commercials this week praising Gov. Sarah Palin.

Designed to counter what the group calls attacks on Palin -- a potential presidential candidate in 2012 -- by "media elites," the ads begin airing in Alaska today.

But Palin's critics have been just as busy.

A group spearheaded by local left-leaning bloggers says the governor still has to answer for the findings of an abuse-of-power investigation finished during the campaign, and are pressing lawmakers to take action next session.

The group, Alaskans for Truth, says the Legislature ought to censure Palin for breaking ethics rules and hold hearings on whether the governor and her husband told investigators the truth.

First, the commercials.

They're paid for by a political action committee called the Our Country Deserves Better Committee, which originally formed in July to defeat Obama's presidential bid.

On its Web site, the political action committee talks about stopping illegal immigration and liberal judges, and says the country needs a president who embraces a "culture of life."

The plan was to disband after the election, said chief strategist Sal Russo, but supporters voted in an online poll to keep going.

"We thought a good thing to start with was your governor was being maligned by too many media elites and political pundits," Russo said in a phone interview Monday.

The committee is spending $50,000 on the ads in Alaska and plans to air spots on national cable and network TV too, Russo said.

"We're saying we want her to continue to be a leader of the Republican Party, that we need her," he said.

The ads should hit local television this morning and appear across the state during prime time Wednesday and Thursday -- in time for Thanksgiving. Palin, whose stance on social issues such as abortion lean hard to the right, has left the door open to a potential presidential bid in four years. She was the vice presidential candidate on the Republican ticket with John McCain, which Obama defeated on Nov. 4.

The Our Country Deserves Better Committee made headlines during the campaign for airing footage of Obama's controversial former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and holding a multi-state "Stop Obama" bus tour.

The group's chairman is Howard Kaloogian, a Republican who served in the California State Assembly from 1994 to 2000. Together with Russo, he worked on the successful 2003 effort to recall Democratic California Gov. Gray Davis.

Watch for the ads in your area, they will be showing nationwide.

Next headline: "Dem journalists and RINOs have heart attacks and attacks of apoplexy." If you haven't done so, as a conservative, go to: http://www.teamsarah.org and join up. Soon a Sarah PAC will be organized, and you want to be there or be square. The MSM is absolutely infuriated that Sarah is not going away any time soon!

The Dems are scared to death of her.

And Country Club Republicans aren't much better.

We need Palin in the Senate, and then in the WHite House.

Lets get started today!

Video: Peggy Noonan warns media is making Palin ‘face of the GOP’

Author: MP

Noonan: “They want to make her: this is what Republicans are, the face of the party, the leader of the party, because it amuses them to do that.”

Related posts:

Notice under "Related Links" how consistent Peggie Nooner is. I mean Noonan. Don't want what the misspelling would conjure up...

OH and BTW the video at the link is an excellent ad for Palin!

Noonan: Mischievous Media Wants to Make Palin Face of GOP

Photo of Mark Finkelstein.
Why does Sarah Palin continue to receive so much media coverage?  Peggy Noonan has a theory.  The Wall Street Journal columnist believes the MSM is up to what she considers "mischief": attempting to make Sarah Palin the face of the Republican party.

Noonan propounded her premise during an appearance today on Morning Joe.

PEGGY NOONAN: Look, I think the headline with Mrs. Palin, let me throw out this idea: she will never not be with us, she will be covered regularly between now and 2012.  There are a number of reasons for this. She is an interesting personality; her story was one that helped to fill the essence of the 2008 campaign.

But also, I happen to think the media is up to a bit of mischief here.  I think the media wants to take Sarah Palin and make her, subliminally, the face of the Republican party. They want to make her: this is what Republicans are, the face of the party, the leader of the party

Yes the media wants to keep her out there in the public eye so they can destroy her.

So far it has worked to Palin's advantage.

Our Country PAC is involved in effort to reclaim Congress in 2010 as well and has already sent $$$ to Saxby Chambliss in his race against Jay Martin.

But with dozens of conservative groups involved in helping Saxby (and again, this is much needed help) I think it's helpful that at least one group (who I work with) is rallying support for Gov. Palin at a time when some in the media and political establishment are trying to smear her.

They want to destroy any potential future this woman has as a leader in this country. If conservatives don't stand up and show solidarity with her, then who will?

Palin fought admirably for our ideals and beliefs during the election. Now we fight for her.

I’m proud to say that I donated $100 for these ads. I also donated to the National Republican Trust to run ads in support of Chambliss.

We all have to get behind campaigns like this, if only to drive the leftist nutcases crazy.

Here’s a good read for all those who are interested:

No, not the Senate! It will ruin her.

If she can't make it to the White House in the 2012 or 2016 elections, I'd like to see her complete another successful term as Governor, then Energy Secretary under Jindal, then two VERY successful terms as our first female President. She's young and healthy but green. Let her get more seasoned and familiar to the public, and then she will be the grande dame of the GOP for the next three decades.

Lets get started today!

Agreed. I will be starting to donate heavily to her PAC as soon as it opens.
