If they’re really that dumb, God bless them.
And if Peg is dumb enough to think the press’ “mischief” in this matter is a bad thing...well, God bless her, too.

The Wall Street Journal columnist believes the MSM is up to what she considers "mischief": attempting to make Sarah Palin the face of the Republican party. The MSM??? You mean the media that sent teams of "investigators" to Alaska to dig up trivial dirt on Sarah Palin? That media?
I want what Peggy's smokin'. She's seeing way outside of reality on this. It's WE, THE CONSERVATIVES that like Sarah Palin. Noonan's hatred clouds her vision.

Somehow I don’t give a damn what Noonan says any longer. I didn’t read the excerpt and don’t care to.

Its worth noting nobody is talking about the top half of the GOP ticket from the recently concluded election.
And there is a reason for this. Palin struck a chord with millions of voters. A very strong chord at that.
And this is why so many can’t stop attacking her, from all sides.
I suspect if cable news and the internet were available in 1976, the same would be true about Reagan.
I’m not saying ‘Sarah Palin is the next Reagan’ here, to be crystal clear.
What I’m saying is Palin has grabbed the imagination of the voters in much the same way he did.
I don’t know if she will be a factor in national politics. But its pretty obvious many fear that she just might become one.
Noonan and Kathleen Parker among them, along with that idiot Mikey Huckabee.

No, Peggy, the mischief is in giving you and Kathleen Whatsherface a soap box to criticize Sarah Palin.

Peggy is correct in one sense - the MSM is, in fact, attempting to "frame" an image for the GOP during their (hopefully brief) minority. But that face isn't Sarah Palin's. It's Peggy Noonan's. And Chris Buckley's, David Brooks's - these are comfortable, East-coast insiders who are happy to kiss the ring of the Powers That Be. The MSM are attempting to establish a GOP orthodoxy firmly under their control, beholden to them for air time and column inches, and aghast at the notion that an outsider who didn't go to the right schools and doesn't attend the right cocktail parties might actually attain an influence outside of their control.
I'm perfectly serious about this. It is a blatant attempt to dictate the boundaries of their political opposition, with the result, if successful, that anyone outside that little circle of approval may safely be dismissed as some sort of extremist without the MSM being forced seriously to consider his or her views. It is an attempt to control the norm.
This sort of thing very rarely succeeds in the face of a large enough popular movement a la Ronald Reagan but it can be successful in nipping such a movement in the bud before it becomes unstoppable. That is precisely what is going on here. Noonan is, wittingly or otherwise, a part of it. It is her face that is acceptable to the liberals in the MSM as representative of the GOP because they know they own her. For whatever her strengths or liabilities, they do not own Sarah Palin. That's why they're nervous, and for very good reason.

And if Peg really thinks this is a bad thing...well, there’s clearly a reason the Reagan Administration paid her to do the speeches and other folks to do the deep political thinking.

Peggy, enjoy your new-found role as media whore. Just remember, they will chew you up and spit you out as soon as you are no longer useful to them.
And the funny thing is, if you man-up and say you're sorry and that you were wrong about Sarah, we'll take you back.
That's the difference between us ignorant rednecks and the pimps you're currently rolling with.

I've lost all respect for Noonan through this election cycle. She just seems like a bitter, elitist RINO these days. It's a pity. I won't even read her articles anymore.
