HARWICH, Mass. — Harwich police have a musical mystery on their hands: Who left a piano in the middle of the woods? And why?

The Baldwin piano discovered in the Bells Neck woods appears to be in perfect working condition and had a matching bench as if it had recently been played.

The piano was discovered Saturday by a woman walking along a path inside a conservation area at the woods.

Another question police would like to answer is how the piano got to such a remote location. The piano is heavy and it took more than a half dozen men to load it onto a truck to remove it.

What a bunch of pathetic weaklings.

You take your piano to the forest when a paint job just won't do.

In the south they have banjo players in the woods and up north they have piano players

LOL. Don't be so sure of that.

A very good friend of mine, a banjo player, and I (guitar player) worked summers at a camp for the terminally overprivileged in New England (southern Maine, not too far from the White Mtns in NH). Dinosaurs still ruled the earth, was so long ago. We took our days off together, grabbed a couple of 6 packs and a bottle of Jack and ran off into the woods to play music and become obliterated.

The sight of us walking out of the woods a number of hours later must have been pretty funny.

On rainy days we stopped at rest areas with covered areas. I still feel for that old couple who ate their lunches in record time to get away from the wild-eyed bluegrassers.

I guess the police have never heard of a lift gate pickup truck.

Two good sized men could get a piano on and off of one of these trucks and the appropriate dolly.

*LOL* - A piano is certainly far less complex a machine than even a single celled organism, much less a human being, so believing the piano evolved would be slightly less ridiculous than believing we did.

I'm thinking of those five WWII TBMs that were found in operating condition in Mexico, or that ship that was found in the desert. Dit Dah Dot Dah Dee.

My sister gave us her swing set when her kids out grew it. As soon as mine outgrow it, it’s going back in her yard sometime when she’s out of town.

Why remove it? It's so wonderfully novel!

Realize they are talking about GOVERNMENT men, probably three of them were supervisors, and at least one was from legal.
