Gallup: Palin top choice of Republicans to run in 2012
hotair.com ^ | November 22, 2008 | Allahpundit

They’re asking whether various candidates should run, not who the nominee should be, but it’s a fair proxy for enthusiasm. 67 percent say yes to the ‘Cuda, 62 to Romney, 61 to Huck. No one else cracks 50. Among conservative Republicans, it’s Palin 73, Huck 65, Mitt 64; among moderates and liberals, Mitt 59, Palin 48, Huck 46. Based on those numbers, it’s actually Romney who’s best positioned to unite the party.

The more I think about it, the more skeptical I am that all three will run. Even I’m not pessimistic enough to believe the recession will last until 2012, which means The One will inevitably be credited with having succeeded in his chief task by the time his term ends. Huckabee will run anyway because he’s hot to remake the party in his image, but Romney doesn’t strike me as eager for another expensive primary war just to be a sacrificial lamb in the general. My hunch is he’ll run only if Obama looks vulnerable and, even then, only if there are enough social cons running to split the base among them so that his strength with moderates is magnified. (It worked for McCain this year, didn’t it?) If he doesn’t run, I assume Pawlenty will throw in and try to capture those moderates with his “Sam’s Club” rhetoric. He won’t win, but he desperately needs a higher profile if he’s going to make a serious run in the future. (It worked for Huckabee this year, didn’t it?)

Four years ago the favorites for this year were McCain and Clinton. Both of them led in popular votes before the primaries were decided.

I will admit that McCain was an exception. clinton was also a bit of a victim of Democrat puppeteers who wanted her less than Republicans. Yet you could see that all the time she was touted as the front runner.

McCain is the real enigma. He spent ten years running for an office he didn't ever want. Maybe that;s the secret for remaining the "one to beat" for four years.

I couldn’t care less what he did in college. The bottom line is that he knows how to run his state and he can also run the federal govt.

I think he decided he didn’t really want it after the financial crisis. Foreign policy was his specialty, energy policy was Palin’s and this wasn’t something he felt he could deal with.

Jesus was into exorcism..

Only non-Christians would object to the practice...

When the even was come, they brought unto Him many that were possessed with devils: and He cast out the spirits with His word, and healed all that were sick: Matthew 8:16

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him. Acts 10:38

And Jesus told His disciples to do the same..

And when He had called unto Him his twelve disciples, He gave them power [against] unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. Matthew 10:1

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Matthew 10:8

And He told us, the Christians, to do so to..

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name (Jesus) shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; Mark 16:17

Or 'christians' that do not care what the Book has to say on the subject.

Why do you want Jindal to run?

Because he could be the best, most consistently effective and conservative executive we have today.

I believe that eight years is correct that they have that long. What happened? Could it be that his number to Vietnam did not come up after that? Not everyone went to Vietnam. My father did join the Air Force at 18 until 22 and he went to Oklahoma and Nebraska for his duties...lol. No Vietnam for him. I can’t answer those questions as there are no answers that I can give that would be accurate.

Just seemed like you were complaining about people making excuses for Palin....but then you did the same thing for Mitt.

You said...he didn't go in the military because of his mission responsibility. When that isn't actually accurate...As he "could" have done both. He didn't.

fwiw-

I can’t argue with your post. There is one FREEPER who basically antagonizes me and I allowed it to happen again! Ugh! No excuse though as my behavior was not acceptable.

Exorcism is part of the dogma of the Catholic Church.

So? If he had a more prosaic hobby there'd be no cause for worry, but I doubt most Americans still want the chief executive practicing voodoo in the Oval Office.

I couldn’t care less what he did in college.

If most Americans are still uncomfortable with their President having taken drugs in college, how do you think they'd feel about one who'd practiced voodoo?

The bottom line is that he knows how to run his state...

So, too, did Bush, Clinton and Carter.

...and he can also run the federal govt.

An unprovable assertion.
