Gallup: Palin top choice of Republicans to run in 2012
hotair.com ^ | November 22, 2008 | Allahpundit

Posted on 11/22/2008 11:56:31 AM PST by Free ThinkerNY

They’re asking whether various candidates should run, not who the nominee should be, but it’s a fair proxy for enthusiasm. 67 percent say yes to the ‘Cuda, 62 to Romney, 61 to Huck. No one else cracks 50. Among conservative Republicans, it’s Palin 73, Huck 65, Mitt 64; among moderates and liberals, Mitt 59, Palin 48, Huck 46. Based on those numbers, it’s actually Romney who’s best positioned to unite the party.

The more I think about it, the more skeptical I am that all three will run. Even I’m not pessimistic enough to believe the recession will last until 2012, which means The One will inevitably be credited with having succeeded in his chief task by the time his term ends. Huckabee will run anyway because he’s hot to remake the party in his image, but Romney doesn’t strike me as eager for another expensive primary war just to be a sacrificial lamb in the general. My hunch is he’ll run only if Obama looks vulnerable and, even then, only if there are enough social cons running to split the base among them so that his strength with moderates is magnified. (It worked for McCain this year, didn’t it?) If he doesn’t run, I assume Pawlenty will throw in and try to capture those moderates with his “Sam’s Club” rhetoric. He won’t win, but he desperately needs a higher profile if he’s going to make a serious run in the future. (It worked for Huckabee this year, didn’t it?)

FastCoyote: "Yes, RINO minority status. With $40 million Romney had to buy every vote he got outside the tiny monority of Mittbots."

Bah!

That's nothing!

The CURRENT Utah governor won with 77% of the vote!

(I wonder how much he'd won by if he were a NON-mormon?)

The only true difference between Reagan and Romney is that Reagan got divorced and Romney has not.

Second, the question is this: what exact policies are you contending Romney wants to institute on a federal level, and what effect are you contending those policies would have on the national economy?

How DARE you ask a DIRECT question!!!

Do you KNOW that Mitt has good intentions??

And focusing attention upon American heroes, and putting a little light upon its knaves and Myths, are not sins, either.

You KNOW this is RED MEAT for an ANTI to use to post facts about Mormon history!

After his foray into exorcism in college, I don't want Jindal near The Oval Office.

Ok...

KJV Matthew 7:22
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

KJV Matthew 8:16
When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

KJV Matthew 9:32-33
 32.  As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil.
 33.  And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.

KJV Matthew 9:34
But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.

KJV Matthew 10:1
And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

KJV Matthew 10:7-8
 7.  And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
 8.  Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

KJV Matthew 17:15-20
 15.  Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
 16.  And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
 17.  Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
 18.  And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
 19.  Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
 20.  And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

KJV Matthew 28:19-20
 19.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
 20.  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

KJV Philippians 2:5
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

And lest you forget, render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and render unto God what is God's. Anyone who wants to play exorcist is welcome to do so, but then let him play at that and leave governance to people with more prosaic pastimes.

We've already had too many drooling snake-handlers in high office, (Carter, Bush and Huckabee readily come to mind), only a fool wouldn't be chary to half-wittedly embrace another.

perhaps, but Palin is clearly not one of them.

There's no "perhaps" about it. And you should CLEARLY know that fact.

IMO...this country needs less silver tongued highly "educated" lying idiots...and more people that just speak truth.

I realize there's millions of folks that want flowery clever speakers....Heck, there's a ton of them here on FR. Ha!!

You seem to forget all of these idiot politicians in the present and the past..with these higher ed degrees...and look what that has brought us!

Once again...I see a wagon wheel stuck in that same old rut.

fwiw...and you can have the last word.

Front runners four years out usually morph into asterisks.M/I>

Four years ago the favorites for this year were McCain and Clinton. Both of them led in popular votes before the primaries were decided.

No Catholics or Evangelicals need apply, I take it.

Unless Jindal gets disqualified because his parents were not American citizens at the time of his birth

Assuming he was born in the US the citizenship of his parents is irrelevant.

I don’t want flowery liberal arts majors, like Peggy Noonan. No more lawyers, either.

But I want hard nosed conservatives with MBA’s or science degrees (especially in engineering) and a degree in journalism isn’t gonna cut it.

“After his foray into exorcism in college, I don’t want Jindal near The Oval Office.”

then romney’s Mormon faith will be fair game. We’ll have a religious war between christians and people of other faiths instead of asking who is most capable of dealing with real enemies, like the islamofascists.

Your words, not mine. If they don't indulge in strange pastimes, who should care?

Some might find the Mormon faith as odd as playing amateur exorcist in college. I, however, don't.

Pity Jindal didn't stick to something as harmless, albeit silly, as Dungeons and Dragons.

Exorcism is part of the dogma of the Catholic Church. It is as if you said that anyone who has a statue of Mary in their church should not run for president.
