Four years ago the favorites for this year were McCain and Clinton. Both of them led in popular votes before the primaries were decided. I will admit that McCain was an exception. clinton was also a bit of a victim of Democrat puppeteers who wanted her less than Republicans. Yet you could see that all the time she was touted as the front runner.
McCain is the real enigma. He spent ten years running for an office he didn't ever want. Maybe that;s the secret for remaining the "one to beat" for four years.
