Swedish DNA expert Marie Allen speaks at a news conference to announce the identification of remains believed to belong to Nicolaus Copernicus, in Warsaw, Poland, on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008. Researchers believe they have identified the remains of Nicolaus Copernicus by comparing DNA from a skeleton they have found with that of hair retrieved from one of the 16th-century astronomer's books. He’s probably regretting this kind of publicity. I mean, he wasn’t really the kind of guy who ran around shouting, “Look at me! Look at me! I’m the center of the universe!”

Read it if you are interested in learning about the "Copernican Revolution" - and a lot more!

I googled the images of him. They are all younger and turned slightly away from the viewer but the chin is definitely the same. I love this stuff. I have two 19th century relatives that I want to dig up and do DNA testing on. My 21st century relatives think I’m nuts. They’re probably right.

Oh, and is it just me, or does he bear a resemblance to Christopher Lloyd?

I guess this means it is not unscientific and un-modern of us to believe all those old stories and books about Copernicus, huh?

I notice they decided to omit the title “Father” as in Fr. Copernicus which is appropriate for all Catholic priests. The end of the article is certainly a load as well. Copernicanism, was lock, stock and barrel a product of the Catholic Church. What clerical troubles he had were with a well known dissenter named Martin Luther.

It has always been believed that Copernicus was buried under this cathedral's floor there was just no proof. So they spent years digging up the floor desecrating grave after grave until they finally found the one they were wanting to desecrate. For what? Just so they can say that Copernicus is buried there and bring in the tourist dollars.
The Chruch should have had no part in this!

I'd just like to see more scientists find Copernicus’ writings since they seem to erroneously credit Galileo with some of his work, because they erroneously see the work as a refutation of religion.
