Huckabee envious of Sarah Palin? Maybe worried she'll de-rail his presidential prospects?

He’s not saying it critically, mind you. Since when has Huck ever been critical of a rival, overtly or otherwise? Huckabee had some interesting observations about Sarah Palin, a potential 2012 opponent, suggesting that she didn’t earn her spurs and was more appealing to the base of the party because she hadn’t been scrutinized in the primary. “What John McCain did for her was to give her the capacity to sort of leapfrog over the process and get right to the center stage,” he said of the GOP’s vice presidential nominee. Unlike those, he added, who had competed in the Republican primary. “She didn’t have to get bloodied like us. Few people on that stage didn’t get bloodied.” He did allow, though, that she did get bloodied — “but not by the people Republicans care about, you guys.”

Huck should keep doing what he does - blowing a lot of hot air. I’ve seen him interviewed about the election a couple of times lately, and he only reaffirms to me why I didn’t vote for him in the primary.

She didn’t get bloodied??? What channel was he watching?

Sarah was called out on wardrobe, knowledge of geography, the freaking Bush Doctrine, her pregnant unmarried daughter, and on and on.

As a woman, she took a much harder beating than men would have gotten. Can you even imagine how much bloodier she would have been if Todd had been her second husband after having left her first husband who was disfigured in an accident? Smarmy-arsed passive aggressive stuff like this is not helping anyone. Please shut up now Huck.

I agree. I think ole’ Huck is fretting that the emergence of Sarah Palin will destroy his only base of support in the party. If Huck really cared about the party and conservatism, he’d run for the senate in 2010 against Blanche Lincoln instead of wasting his time on a hopeless ego-trip presidential run.

His speech pattern irritates me — a combo of too-smooth, insincere, and whining all at the same time. Ick.

Just as Juan won’t be POTUS, neither will the Huckster.

Ditto that! The Huckster is right there with Bush on big government compassionate conservatism (which isn’t compassionate or conservative). I don’t want Bush III in four years!

I’m thinking more and more that SP is going to wait until 2016 before running for POTUS and let the Huckster, Romney and Newt fight it out in ‘12. If she decides to run in ‘12, there really would be no point in running for re-election b/c she would have to start her prez campaign the moment she gets sworn in.

Further, 0bama’s mistakes will be attributed to his inexperience; so the public might be disinclined to start afresh with another person of limited experience. As Rush says, the media has made 0bama too big to fail.

If Sarah waits until ‘16 she will in all likelihood not be facing an incumbant veep and have two full years to campaign from a base outside AK. In the meantime, SP can network and raise funds like fiend for other GOPers.

Huckabee has no chance to be the nominee in 2012. None.

Huck took advantage of being the only one in the race saying whatever socons wanted to hear. sarah’s presence removes need for him as she’s more paltable on other issues where he only had the one. His time came and went.

Remember Nancy Reagan and Just Say NO. I now think it should now be used to Just Say NO to anyone who ran in the Republican Primary in 2008. Have had enough of them to last for a long time.

We need energetic candidates to run in 2012 that we don’t have to ask if they are conservative.

She didn’t have to get bloodied like us

I guess having been accused of not having her own child and yet her husband still being the father isn't really getting bloodied. Not to mention all the stores at which she didn't shop, all the geography lies, being accused of dragging the ticket down, when it was the other way around. Are you bloody kidding me?!

And what, someone accused you, Huck, of putting a cross in your ad?! You had your wet finger in the air from the time you started campaigning and you still do. Anyone who can't see that is being blinded by the cross.

Huck does have a point, but this kind of stuff just makes me laugh.

They’re SO obvious.

Sarah has a natural, God given, talent which allows her to connect with most conservative almost instantly, and all the others, like Huck, are sooooooooooooo jealous they can’t even talk straight.

I have relatives in South Carolina. Strong fundies. They were so offended by Huck's play for the fundamentalist Christian vote that one voted for McCain and one voted for Romney.

Sarah Palin is an Evangelical Christian without being obnoxious or bigoted. Our area (Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania) is primarily Catholic and everyone I talked to in our local volunteer office was there because of Sarah.

Incidently, McCain carried our county 58-42%, two points better than G.W. Bush in 2004 and in a county Mondale actually won during the Reagan landslide in 1984. Sarah was not only the main reason, she very well could have been the only reason.

Republicans also swept both state legislative seats here, including the house district which has been held by a Democrat since it was created in 1969. Hucksterbee can never hope to inspire that level of loyalty and effort among Catholics, secular economic conservatives, Mormons or even fellow evangelicals. He isn't fit to shine Sarah's shoes!

Off ALL the people that ran on the Repub ticket this election, Palin is the ONLY one I think we should even consider the next time around. Other than her it's time for some new young conservatives to emerge.
