And carbon cap-and-trade to destroy what little domestic energy production we have.
That explains the ongoing dissing of Governor Palin. What sort of choices did McCain have to make?
This battle is being fought behind the scenes as we speak. I hope conservatives bring some pressure for change to bear, in these Governor's conferences and back room meetings in each state across the nation.
Hope things are placid where you are. Obama is president and the unilateral Israeli strike is likely on the table ( One of the reasons that Obama is NOT announcing his cabinet piecemeal)Anti -Israel Hillery Clintoin as Sec. State and JCS who are anti -Israel might put paid to a strike.) I hope that does not happen, but USFOR Iraq needs to be have its awareness extended outward as well as inward now, as I am sure they are doing. The Iranians are getting unexplainably co-operative on the US withdrawal package since Obama was elected. When the smiles and felicitations are made, knives are likely drawn under their jahalibiyas or whatever they wear these days.
Take care Ms. Texas.
Wow they really do want a third party movement. Seem to be begging for it.
And Yahoo had the temerity to frame in the context of “getting together after a nasty campaign”. That was a nasty campaign? Gee I must have missed it.
Just give me the chemical castration and get it over with.
Great concept. Too bad it as nothing to do with the squalid reality being described here. McCain is being used as a styrofoam stage prop for a quick news story. That's all.
Sorry but none of those items are on the agenda
“When McCain lost to Bush in the 2000 primaries I recall he was quite bitter about it and for some time was prone to criticism of the Bush administration in a rather petulant manner. Yet with Obama, hes already out there with the raching across the aisle stuff. Which party is it he really belongs in again?”
To be fair, the attacks McCain had to endure in 2000 were of the highly personal nature and represented slander and character assassination (has black love child, had affairs Cindy McCain does not know about, etc.) without any shred of proof provided. Politics is a rough game, but I would imagine that being attacked in that fashion felt a lot different than what he had to hear this time around.
Not that McCain’s policies are worth a damn, I am just comparing the two different campaign cycles, and I would imagine the first one was a bit more personally damaging for McCain for a while longer because of the highly personal nature of the attacks against him.
The one remaining thing that McCain can do for his country is retire.
Great story. :-)
Yup..
"Just high enough to fall on your nose again"
We were pretty well in a no win situation and the only thing we could do, was work with what we were given and hope that Sarah would take over at the end of mccain's first term.
McCain was bitter about the nasty, underhanded campaign tactics in South Carolina. He had a right to be. The "black child with a New York prostitute" stories would have set anyone off. In South Carolina they didn't say "black child" and they didn't say "prostitute". The goobers took it as gospel because a lot of it was spread in the churches. I would have been pissed, too.
But what did McCain do? He turned around and campaigned for Bush. In Nevada, in Ohio and in Florida, close states where McCain was popular and Bush not so. He sucked it up and worked his heart out. For Bush. For the Party.
Remember Florida? A few hundred votes and Al Gore would have been President Gore. President Gore on 9/11. How many votes did McCain swing? Certainly hundreds, probably thousands, and possibly tens of thousands. Without McCain George W. Bush would have been fish bait.
They had policy differences and McCain did what he could to advance his own ideas in the Senate. He opposed the Farm Bill, just as he always had. He opposed the Highway Bill, just as he always had. He opposed the Pill Bill, just as he always had. Petulant? Maybe somewhat. He wasn't George W. Bush's lapdog.
In the real world, he and JFK were very good friends. He intended to run against Kennedy in '64 and Kennedy knew it. They were going to campaign together across the country. According to the plan they were going to make joint appearances and present their differing views and let the voters decide which they preferred. He had a huge respect for Kennedy and was devestated at the assassination. Kennedy, in turn, admired and respected Goldwater.
I love it.
I do too! I think the Spalding GOP store on-line has them. I stole it for posting purposes! LOL!
Goober and McAmnesty have been doing a fan dance with the Dems and DNCmedia for years. With their help, probably So. Carolina will also become a blue state, as it becomes another safe haven for 3rd world hordes like its sister state to the north has become.
